Welcome, MFGG! The secret-mongering has finally come to an end. Many of you knew I was working on my Mario Kart fangame but nothing apart from a few menu screens have been shown yet. But now the game is complete and ready for release. Start your engines and get racing in this new game of mine! I hope you enjoy this game as much as I enjoyed making it.

The game features 12 characters, 8 of which are playable from the start. There are 16 tracks split up into four cups. If you get a trophy in one of the cups while playing in Grand Prix mode, you will unlock its respective characters. Additional to the Grand Prix mode there is also Time Trial mode where you can try to set up record times on your favorite tracks, as well as Vs Race where you can play with your own rules. You can customize speed class, CPU difficulty, which items appear, and more.

You will take control of four playable characters which rise against a team that seemingly wants to take over the world - but are their motives really that cliché, or are there deeper motives behind their actions?

Finished a cup. It's technically impressive but I feel like i'm driving on a cushion of air, it feels really floaty, and sliding around corners is next to useless, at least compared to just slowing down and taking a corner easy, when you go from barely turning to practically taking a 90 degree turn in an instant. Also unless it was bugged, are there no Kart noises?

Everything else seems fine, items are all there and everything looks quite nice. Could do with more sounds, a bit more love, and something to make it feel unique (unless I missed some exclusive things). It's a safe and competent Mario Kart fangame.

I didn't know about the drifting at first (I mostly played MK Wii on auto), and I was mostly getting last place, and some tracks were next to impossible to race on. Drifting is vitally important to the game and helps you go a lot faster.

what's wrong with the drifting? Again, I haven't played much MK8 so I don't know how it's supposed to feel, but it feels ok to me.

you go at almost a 90 degree angle. the angle is so sharp that it's basically useless to drift.

It doesn't really feel like drifting in any other Mario Kart game, or any racing game in general, it kind of goes against the laws of physics.

Quite a lot of the handling feels iffy to be honest, like how you accelerate just as fast up a hill as you do going down, you have no weight. The turning feels more akin to SNES style but even that felt a bit more "weighty" than this game. Hitting walls doesn't impact your speed, you just kind of slide along it, even going nearly head-on into one. It's especially noticeable in courses with walls lining it such as the Bowser's Castle stage.

Also as I say, the game suffers from a lack of identity or anything to define it as a unique Mario Kart fangame. Aside from a unique character and stage or so, it's basically a poor man's Mario Kart clone that doesn't offer anything new for those of us who already own the myriad of Mario Kart games.

Compared to what people are saying, the drifting isn't that bad. It seems to be useful for a small boost too. Though, could you pull the camera back from the racer a bit? That would help since you can't see where you're drifting towards.

The physics don't feel like a Mario Kart game, drifting is impossible, and there is no sense of speed.

6/10

i also found the drifting a bit difficult at first, but it's not bad once you get used to it

Do note that you can still steer while drifting

I felt the need to adress this comment in particular, because that's quite ridiculous. What did you expect? I was limited in model and texture resources, and even then I made a fair share of both myself. I gave the chocolate track a unique look, there is a beehive track, there is a sakura track with a unique gimmick, there even is a custom character, and it's probably the best MK fangame yet that's out there. If you only feel the need to hate without proper feedback you might as well do it somewhere else.

Other than the drifting, I actually like this game a lot... not sure why so many people dislike it

I do think it would be much better if the drifting was a little softer, though. But it's still a really well done fan game! ^_^

How do you get a speed boost at the start of a race? I see all the CPUs in 150cc (what I find to be the most fun thus far) do it, but I can't figure it out.

But that doesn't say much, because almost every other MK fangame is awful enough for an AVGN episode.

I agree that it would've been nice to have a greater number of original tracks, and I understand why you'd find the drifting to be a bit... strange. However, I played it and enjoyed what I saw, and that's what matters for me.

(Full disclosure: I helped beta-test this.)

I have literally no idea why every body is hating the drifting simply because it's different from the drifting in other Mario Kart games. It is extremely useful on literally every track (unless you're on 50cc), and once you get some practice with it, it's not even that hard to use.
