Eeeeyup. Remember this thing? I know how much you all want a sequel to Toad Strikes Back, but you’re just going to have to settle with some crummy spiritual successor instead. ;D

But… it doesn’t snow in the desert…


Psycho Waluigi is a platformer – at first glance, it would seem like your average Mario game, what with the pipes, blocks to smash, enemies to stomp and coins to collect… but the similarities more or less end there. See, I am attempting to take the concept of fangaming in a more creative direction, and this little game is the result.

Bob’ombs and Piranha Plants will be the only traditional Mario enemies to make an appearance.


The gimmick? Waluigi has psychic powers. And he wants to use them to take over the world. And it’s up to you to help him achieve that goal! …Yeah, kinda dark for a Mario game, but I still say Super Paper Mario is even darker, heh. ;B

Using his newfound psychic powers, Waluigi can grab and throw anything as a weapon from bricks, to coins, to enemies – some enemies can be “mind controlled.” Basically, you’re forcing them to use their abilities against other enemies – like Kirby, in a sense.

This is my dream fangame – and I mean that in the most literal sense possible. One night a couple of years ago, I had a dream where I made… this game. The whole concept of Waluigi having psychic powers, along with the very gameplay mechanics… it was all very clear. And thus, I had to take it on over to the realm of the conscious.

The action can be quite chaotic at times.


I’ve been working on this game like mad – nearly missing a few meals in the process, haha. I actually started working on it just before TSB’s completion, and have been working on it since; on and off at irregular intervals. But it was just a few months ago I kicked it into high gear – finishing off the engine, starting the actual game, so on and so forth. But I think the two years of work shows – I think y’all will like it. …I hope. D;

Progress is coming along nicely. In theory, I could release a demo any time, but… you just might have to wait. Blame the kindly folks who made NCFC. ;P Though I may release one before then if I feel like it, if the demand is high enough, and if I receive cake (get cookin’ peeps. ;p). Dunno how long the game will take to complete, but expect it sooner than forever, hah! I’m planning on… maybe thirty-something levels (they’re pretty big and each one unique). I have a few done already and they seem to be piling up rapidly, so… wooo.

I really want it now. I mean, seriously. TSB was the best Mario Fangame in TGF/MMF/whateverclickteam i've ever played. Cannot wait.

Well, this looks interesting. While I find the Wario Bros. the most unpleasant characters to ever come from Nintendo, Waluigi never gets any attention. I will most definetly play this when possible.

its a neat gimmick but I'm getting the feel it gets really repetitive after a bit, unless more abilities in regards to physic powers are made available as you progress.

It looks really promising though and I am looking forward to it.

In that case, I'm glad I got you interested, heh! One thing that has been worrying me was Waluigi's unpopularity - personally, I love the character, but not everybody feels the same. So it's good to know you're still interested with all things considered. =D

Pick it up and use its powers - "mind control" is just a fancy name I came up with for it. But that's not to say there won't be levels where you can actually control an enemy... ;) (still in the planning stages, but yeah)

It rotates in a 180 degree arc around Waluigi, depending on what direction he's facing. You can move it with the Up and Down directionals, and the grabbing/throwing/mind control is all handled with Button 2 (default: ctrl).

Bear in mind, the video only shows the first level. If my test frames were any indication, the later levels have the potential to become quite chaotic and challenging - there's a lot already programmed that you haven't seen. You'll probably wish they were overpowered then. ;P

The same could be said about Kirby's suck-and-blow powers upon first glance. ;D Some stages you might be able to get through without using your psychic powers at all, whereas others will center themselves around the mechanic, finding new ways to utilize the power. And of course, more enemies with usable abilities will be introduced as you go along as well. So yes, rest assured that efforts will be made to keep it fresh, and again - there's a LOT that the video does not show.

I revealed it late 2007 - how is 2010 "sooner that you thought?" ;D But yeah, I suppose I have been pretty hush-hush on the whole effort. But then again, one could say that the reason I haven't said or done anything around here was because, well, I kinda sorta was too busy working on the game. ^_^;;
