Super Mario Flashback - Mors - 11-29-2017

This is a fangame I've been working on for a few years by now. It features remakes of levels from other Mario games. It has a completely original soundtrack, as well as a unique art style and graphics.

Looks great, man! Other Big Brin

RE: Super Mario Flashback - Willsaber - 11-29-2017

Imo it would be super cool if this segment had tiles reminiscent of these levels in Super Mario Bros.

RE: Super Mario Flashback - YoshisIsland3 - 11-30-2017

Nice to see this again with a new style!

RE: Super Mario Flashback - RetroRespecter - 12-01-2017

This is bound to turn some heads.

There will be an entire level based on that actually, the level in the engine test is a placeholder lol

I like that you're including Balance Lifts in this game. I haven't seen those in a lot of fangames.

Has anyone reported having a problem with the music looping over itself? When I fell in a pit and lost a life, the room restarted as usual, but the music didn't stop playing. However, a new instance of the overworld music started playing, so the song was playing over itself. (I'm playing a version I downloaded a few days ago, so if you've fixed this, please ignore this paragraph.)

Also, your site's download links to older versions are dead, so you might want to update or remove those.

Thanks! The music loop is a known bug, I will fix it in the future versions for sure.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

RE: Super Mario Flashback - HellJumper - 09-11-2018

This looks really great and all, but when will we start seeing some new levels? World 1-1 is getting a tad old, at least in my opinion.

Edit: Don't mean to come off as disrespectful or anything, as this does take a lot of work. It's just that ever since this game was given a new coat of paint, all we have really seen is World 1-1, and I'm ready for something new, y'know? Smile

Edit number two: Well, after playing it, I take back what I said before. Enough was changed and improved upon for it to be considered a new demo. Great job. The only annoyances I had was it felt like Mario accelerated just a tad too quickly, and the enemy hit boxes seemed a bit small. But other than those, this was fantastic. I love the newly added slide move, and see it as a worthy addition to Mario's moveset. I also really like the ability to shoot in an upwards arch with the Fire Flower. That extra degree of control adds so much.

How often do you work on this project? How many hours a week? I've been tackling my game (Super Mario Holidays) for two years. I find I cant work on it as much as I'd like cause of lack of motivation and interest.

RE: Super Mario Flashback - VinnyVideo - 09-16-2018

It's nice to see an update on this. Yesterday I finally got a chance to finish playing the latest demo. Flashback is one of the most visually-appealing fangames I've seen, and I'm looking forward to playing the full version.

I'm getting a lot of performance issues when I play, though. The game often runs at 60 FPS if I enable Vsync. However, there'll still be seemingly random stretches where the game lags. Changing the graphics quality doesn't seem to help. I'm not sure what the issue is. My laptop isn't a gaming PC, but it can normally play 2-D games without difficulty.

RE: Super Mario Flashback - Syaxamaphone - 09-16-2018

How similar is this new build to the one you posted a little while back for SAGE?

RE: Super Mario Flashback - Shadow Administrator Drei - 09-17-2018

everything is very pretty, though in some ways those extravagant animations feel like a totally non-mario thing, but that isn't bad

RE: Super Mario Flashback - Mors - 09-18-2018

Aaah thanks guys!

Gonna be honest, it's just whenever I feel like. I don't really have a strict schedule.

It's the same one lol

RE: Super Mario Flashback - Mors - 02-23-2019

As of lately I've been busy with various other projects, so the progress has been slow. But hey, I guess it's better than nothing!

I should have something noteworthy to show tho

Oh and currently we are looking for some additional composers. If you think you can contribute to this project you can apply from here!
