RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - VinnyVideo - 01-19-2026 Never say never, but currently there's no one who's able to revive this project. We're focusing our efforts on the New CFP, where we're making progress every day now. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - DJ Coco - 01-19-2026 ![]() Mors has abandoned the project, and I think the game's level editor doesn't work on modern systems. That, coupled with the fact Chaoxys is busy now with his own indie projects, makes it very unlikely this game will ever see a release. I have inquired on how much is left to do, and unfortunately there is a significant chunk of work ahead if this project is ever picked up again, so chances are not looking good. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - Dr. Smug - 01-20-2026 I had heard that development was up to the Final World tho. Was that information wrong or am I misremembering things? Sad to see such a promising game get killed off. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - VinnyVideo - 01-23-2026 If the only issue was that the level editor didn't work in Windows 10/11, I'd be happy to set up a VM or dig out an older machine to get this thing finished. My understanding is some of the estimates about the remaining workload were a bit... optimistic. As DJ Coco noted, a lot of stuff is still far from finished. Maybe some hero will emerge someday and finish this project, but chances are you'll have to settle for the three and a half completed worlds in the 2021 demo. In the meantime, we're working on a new CFP that's in active development! RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - luckygames - 01-24-2026 If it can't be recovered, and there's no available material about what it is or the project's status, it could be considered lost media, unless, of course, someone manages to find out what's hidden behind this unplayable project. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - chaoxys - 03-21-2026 Not to kill the dream (also, hey, I've been away for a long time but figured I'd pop in), but yeah, the project is likely super dead. due to some computer issues, I've lost all of the graphics I had made for the projects, all the music, everything. Sucks because like, with the tiles, BGs, NPCs, ect, there was well over 100 sheets. Like, even if the game wasn't going to happen, I would have loved to have released the graphics to the public. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - DJ Coco - 03-23-2026 Welp, I guess that's the final nail in the coffin. If it's hardware failure some computer experts might still be able to save your files. If you wiped the data, maybe Recuva from Pirisoft can save something. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - chaoxys - 03-23-2026 I know the thumbdrive that held all the date was destroyed. As for the laptop... I might be able to access the files on it actually? I know most of my old laptops are super dead, but I might try some of them to see if I can boot them up long enough to grab the files. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - VinnyVideo - 03-23-2026 That's a bummer indeed - computer issues are the polar opposite of fun. That said, unless you dropped your computer in a volcano or chopped your hard drive into itty-bitty pieces or something, there's a very good chance that at least some data can be recovered. I'd really hate to see all your unreleased graphics vanish into the ether. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - DJ Coco - 03-25-2026 Straight up destroyed? Harsh. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - chaoxys - 03-25-2026 Huh, to my surprise, I managed to get my OLD old old laptop running long enough to grab the files for the game. Not really sure what to do with them at this point. I want to submit the graphics I made, but theres so many so idk where to begin (more so because it'll take a long time and I'm super busy). That said, I DO have the files again. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - WasabiCatto - 03-26-2026 Maybe submit as a whole .zip? RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - chaoxys - 03-26-2026 (03-26-2026, 02:12 AM)WasabiCatto Wrote: Maybe submit as a whole .zip? Yeah, I'll probably do that. I'll just need to go through the folder and clean things up first. Divide them into playable, enemies, tiles, BGs, ect. I'll probably remove anything I didn't make since I wouldn't feel right accidently submitting something someone else made. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - VinnyVideo - 03-27-2026 @chaoxys That is very good to hear! A .ZIP might be a good way to upload a lot of unreleased content. The disadvantage of uploading .ZIP files is they're harder for users to preview, since you have to download the files first. Please make sure to keep a backup of the sprites that other people contributed in the unlikely event that this project gets rebooted someday. RE: Super Mario Bros. & The Midas Machine - chaoxys - 03-28-2026 Yeah, I ended up dividing them into separate categories (playable, enemies, ect), and i'm going to upload them one at a time. The sheet layouts aren't super tidy, and a few older versions/scrapped concepts might end up in the mix but... eh. |
