Figured I may as well pop in for a quick "hello" too. I've still been doing a bit of QC work here and there but it's been pretty slow, considering I've had bigger fish to fry.
I know I'm hardly the first to say this but I think it's nice to see all these oldbies coming back as well!

Also, despite drama during my admin era, I didn't have any true animosity towards any one except Nightwing. His behaviour tested me incredibly during that time, and (CRAZY UNKNOWN FACT TO MAYBE 1 OR 2 PEOPLE THAT WOULD CARE) I actually almost ended my admin career with posting a complete rendition I made of Blackalicious' "Deception," but with the lyrics changed to "Don't Let Nightwing Change Ya" and all sorts of reasons why he was just "the worst." Luckily, I only got as far as completing the music, and before I got to recording the lyrics, realized "this is not worth the time or effort."
He's probably a cool dude now, it's been quite some time.

Nice to see that drama is still at the forefront of MFGG discussion.
Some of the older members (age-wise, Nightwing included) were incredibly hostile and nasty to a lot of us who were children at the time. Both to our faces and behind our backs on Exclusive Cool Kid forums. People like Nightwing and a handful of others who will remain unnamed were a big reason why I took extended breaks from MFGG and eventually stepped away from the community and its many branches all together.
I mostly just wanted to come back and say hi, but I think I have an irreparable disconnect from this community at this point. Some people I miss, others I really, really do not. I had a lot of great times here, but it also represents the awkward phase of my life where I went from a cringy child to an only slightly less cringy young adult, and I think I'd like to keep that era far, far behind me.

I could never get rid of the Local Psychic title. I still use it anywhere I can. Honestly, if I ever actually got enough steam to finish an independent project, I'd release it as Local Psychic instead of as Zero Kirby.
Y'know, I still have those Yoshiman Plays Hooky comics archived on Smack Jeeves. Granted it's because they're on an old account I don't use anymore, but still.

I'll agree that MFGG's community was beyond managable by the time the split happened- its a good thing it did because I think while it took Minus World a while to find its stride, it really did. While MFGG could be better off given all the time its had to do its own thing, I think keeping steady at what it does is no small feat. It is a shame it seems like some people associate Minus World as "where that negative community went" because by far I think Minus World has a much tighter handle on its s*** than MFGG ever did and we'd love to see some oldbies hang out with us on the other side.

I'll never agree about the split, but we could have an entire thread about that if you want. There were a few things handled wrong, of course, but I think the outcome was overall pretty good.
It was sad to see IPB go as I felt like it was a superior platform to any other free php/mysql board offering at the time but it really was unmaintainable at that point. phpBB and MyBB both aren't really great pieces of software so it's a shame we have to settle but it's going to be more functional and secure than IPB at this point. Although if you really love classic IPB boards, classic MFGG member Jcink runs a business out of hosting and maintaining them to this day- I think he's the last of that kind left since InvisionFree was finally bought by Tapatalk about a year ago. (I wish he kept his community boards around- I was always a bigger part of his community than MFGG's and there's just no good way for those of us from that area of the web to reconnect there.)

Perhaps so. My previous post was mainly concerned about forum traffic and activity, not necessarily the health of the forums. Reflecting back on it, it was probably in the best interest of MFGG itself that the split occurred. It did deter the toxic members from joining, and that's how things should stay.
