In the future, if all goes well, lumaSMS will combine the functionality of the forums and mainsite, so mainsite comments would definitely have avatars.
In the meantime, if you'd like to add avatars to mainsite comments, that could be cool. While it's never easy to splice new features onto TCSMS, this would be a relatively straightforward addition.
