I DIDN'T SAY DELETING THE SERVER SOLVES STAFF SECRECY!!!!!!! THAT'S UNRELATED. And no, you really can't make the sweeping changes the Discord needs without deleting it. It won't work. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - Vert - 12-25-2018 Cruise control, etc We know what you're saying but deleting the Discord isn't gonna fix anything m80, that's what people are saying. It's got its problems that are a result of the problems the community has as a whole. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - Mario - 12-25-2018 Look if you can't admit there's a serious problem after 6+ months of chaos and 5 staff members resign in one night then I don't think there's any convincing you. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - Vert - 12-25-2018 I didn't deny there's a problem, I'm saying that deleting the Discord won't fix anything in the long run. It's a temporary solution. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - The Dark Warrior - 12-25-2018 Actually Mors hits the nail right on the head, as that was evidenced back when Hotel Delfino still existed that the staff didn't want it managed by such when tbh, that was like, the only group that would be the closest thing for an MFGG discord without of the instability built around it because... it was moderated by people who didn't exhibit the staff vs user bias mentality and cared. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - rollerC - 12-25-2018 No one is suggesting that Discord is the problem. Discord just makes the problems way worse. So why not we have moderators who actually care and don't try to have a bias against certain members? RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - VinnyVideo - 12-26-2018 Wow, seems like some people were in a Grinchy mood on Christmas Day. When we first started talking about making an official Discord group, we saw it as a growth opportunity for MFGG. Discord was rapidly growing in popularity, and it kept adding cool new features that we thought would improve the overall MFGG experience. We never did this to spite anyone else. In fact, when we were planning the original Discord group, we didn't want the official MFGG Discord to squash other unofficial Discord groups that already had their own identity. We just thought that having an official chat group would provide a better atmosphere and higher participation than previous unofficial groups. We always choose staff members who are enthusiastic about helping MFGG, so we most definitely care about the well-being of the community. I think a lot of staff members have gotten burnt out about the Discord - we've had some problems with conversations getting a little too heated, or people posting dumb things that are outside the boundaries of good taste. If we keep the Discord active, we'll definitely need to promote a couple more Discord mods who are good at handling real-time conversation and are usually available. Obviously, the Discord isn't the sole source of our problems. There's a lot of people holding on to dumb grudges over things that happened years ago, and it's difficult for us to make other people bury the hatchet. However, people tend to be better-behaved in forums than in chat groups because in forums, people tend to think before they post and don't usually reply as quickly, and there's less of a tendency for arguments to snowball out of control. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - Kritter - 12-26-2018 Pretty sure I'm one of the few who was super vocal about NOT having an official MFGG discord or anything. Saw this s*** coming a mile away. Stick my head in for the first time in a few months and everyone is resigning and whinging about the chat and generally having a bad time. It's like this has happened before. RE: Delete the Discord and start fresh in a few months - Mario - 12-26-2018 I felt it was a bad idea in the first place too, but it seems like we're going to run into a spiral of 'repeating the same mistakes' with this thing- we just tried "hiring more discord mods" a few months ago and half of them already quit! Though I guess the numbers don't lie and we might get a full team to run the place after a few cycles of that. |
