RE: Users that you miss - Vitiman - 06-30-2019

Oh god, seeing both King Piranha Plant and General is giving me surreal 2006 flashbacks I didn't know I even had. Seeing them well-behaved and nuanced is conflicting with memories of them that are probably outlining how flawed internet interaction can be.

Hey guys, it's me, Nonsince/PunkYoshi/Sparker/Ike Bravo. Yeah, that one weirdo who kept changing his name! I was once infamous for starting projects that I never finished, and now I- hang on a sec Thinking

RE: Users that you miss - Yoshin - 06-30-2019

Woah KPP and General

RE: Users that you miss - GeneralGuy - 06-30-2019

Hey there Vitiman and Yoshin! Big Grin Yeah, following the rules and integrating into the community is way more satisfying than breaking them at the expense of being reviled and ostracized by it. I remember all the fan-games I started and never finished in 2006 through 2007. There's many more people in the same boat besides you Vitiman.

Speaking of, King Piranha Plant, did you ever finish Dodge The Shy Guys 2? I have fond memories of playing the demo of it back in 2006. Here's the original topic on the IPB forums! http://archive.mfgg.net/index.php?showtopic=118893 It was removed from the Main Site unfortunately, but I managed to find a backup copy of it using Wayback Machine and can post it if anyone's interested! Also, if it weren't for KPP, the Waligie series wouldn't exist!

I have to say that 2006 and 2007 were by far my favorite years on MFGG, and I have this nostalgic longing to restore the community back to that particular point in time. That's something I'd love to do; have all the old MFGGers from the IPB era come back.

I totally feel you there. I keep hoping there will be some weird resurgence where everyone gets nostalgic and comes back to form some new activity where we keep in touch, or post here and there, but in reality the best thing to do about this kind of nostalgia is search for or create new forms of community. I tend to long for the 2003-2006 eras the most because I miss having a hyper creative community of weirdness, snark, personality and nerdy but goofy culture. I wonder where to find a new modern form of that with the same level of spark.

Btw super cool to see you General Guy! It's been so long. I had no idea that backup existed. Got suuuper lost exploring the past on there last night. Sadly don't even think I have Dodge the Shyguys 2; the game was terrible but it'd be fun to see it again, so I'd love to snag a download sometime. Whoops!

Yeah, although a resurgence of the community is already taking place with all the oldies popping up recently. I'll do what I can to contact old members and see if they'll join the forums here. Here's a backup of Dodge The ShyGuys 2 on the Main Site! https://web.archive.org/web/20140331062527/http://www.mfgg.net/index.php?act=resdb&param=02&c=2&id=5999 Cool

RE: Users that you miss - Vitiman - 07-01-2019

Oh absolutely, I encourage as many oldbies to return as there are that want to! We'd be very happy and gracious to have some of MFGG's greatest (and even not-so-greatest) come back and stick around for a little while. Who knows? You might end up actually enjoying it here Wink

RE: Users that you miss - Q-Nova - 07-01-2019

Hey, welcome back, @King Piranha Plant! I remember seeing your video about Psycho Waluigi, that was cool stuff! Cool Also, welcome back, @GeneralGuy! It's great to see a fangame that was once thought to be lost brought back to life! Other Big Brin

Speaking of contacting oldbies, I actually sent an e-mail to FanGuy a week or two ago, using the e-mail address that can be seen in his Legend of the Hammer Warrior demo. I was trying to see if he did any more work on his games that we didn't get to see in the demos (I did mention MFGG a couple times). I'm not sure if he still uses that e-mail address or not, but I thought it'd be worth a shot. Smile (In case you're wondering, I have yet to get a response from him...)

You were on the list, but since you joined I took you off.

RE: Users that you miss - Neo Hyper Yoshi - 07-06-2019

Glad to see Yoshiman remembers me. I'd still love to meet him whenever I go to Canada someday.

Fireball3k is actually on my Facebook friends list, I don't really interact with him on it. I've never been the one for that on Facebook.

I guess I have so much other things going in my life, like work, the various other games and communities I'm a part of that MFGG is low on my list of priorities.

I'm close to the border so it's easy now.

Also, hello KPP!

RE: Users that you miss - Rob - 07-09-2019

Oh hey, I've been a member here since 05.
I've been in contact with many of 05ers and others near the era through social media and chat things.

One person that I missed though was Suigi, he and his Wario Comix inspired me to persue into writing things for comics and such, and it wasn't much later until I also realized he was part of MFGG.

He was like some other certain notable individual on the net who's name I won't drop, without that controversy stuff surrounding him.

Welcome back Rob! I remember you from the old IPB boards; you're pretty cool. If you could invite all of 05ers and others, that would be awesome! I'll try and get in contact with Suigi.

RE: Users that you miss - Great Destination Tracks 3 - 07-09-2019

It looks like some users that have been inactive are making a return?

I literally just e-mailed over 150 MFGGers from the old board, and am contacting others through DeviantArt, Facebook, Steam, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.

With more to come today.

Now all we need is littlelum and saltman to come back

RE: Users that you miss - Vitiman - 07-09-2019

A reminder to you returning oldbies: we have an IPB forum skin available for your consumption Wink

RE: Users that you miss - Rob - 07-09-2019

If you clowns can bring back Lufa then I'll personally give whoever did it a KFC badge

What's upppp Yoshiman, good to see on the forums Big Grin

The music you've been making is bomb, in TD's Psycutlery trailers and whatnot!

Also yesss @Vitiman I noticed all the old skins were ported and I was so happy. Each one brings me so many different memories of hanging out, refreshing the forums repeatedly, checking posts in GC, Arts Board and PPP just to procrastinate while working on fangames or sprites.
