I don't see any particular reason why we shouldn't
My profile location is "New Donk City, Metro Kingdom" which obviously isn't a real location - for the longest time before then it was Spagonia from Sonic Unleashed. (On that note it would also be cool to have that game's country flags as options, but I'm getting distracted at this point)
If we're super-concerned about demographic information, have the "country" and "profile flag" be separate options - there really isn't anything stopping someone as it is from selecting the wrong country already, though

Yeah, honestly there's no real reason why we shouldn't have the flag since nothing is really enforced about using the actual country we're from.

I don't really see why not either. I personally think Mario's suggestion of changing "country" to "flag" in the User CP would be the best thing to do.

I've altered the "Country" text "Choose a Country or Novelty Flag to represent yourself" in the profile field.
I realise this isn't really a novelty thing but I assume this'll lead to novelty flags being added, perhaps some Mario specific ones. Feel free to suggest better wording and I'll be happy to change it.
