I agree that it's weird and unnecessary now that you mention it, although the "huge problems" it could entail seems to be a bit of a stretch. I don't think anyone is going to use the info on the Wiki as a weapon, especially something as far-fetched as a potential employer, who isn't going to dig that far.

there are old mfgg members who have had people dig up their old information to harass them online. it's happened to several people actually

Might as well. I don't even care anymore. Try to help and I get punished for it. Let it burn or whatever.

Also I get banned from the Wiki for one year due to "Intimidating behavior/harassment" , which I didn't do, yet others can vandalize my article and slander me. I can't believe this place.

Funny. That word filter is a perfect representation of the staff's attitude around here. Childish.

Coming in to say, employers have digged as far as mfgg for myself, so I'd bet if theres any way to link someone to mfgg that it will happen.

Also that people have dug up s*** I said during mfgg3 or early mw to use against me, so I 100% think people would use the wiki in this fasion as well.

You were changing articles back while we were trying to clean them, you called Syax a weeb, and let's not forget about that private message you sent to me.

My understanding is that you also undid some wiki sysop revisions and other stuff while you were "helping". Adding old drama to a huge amount of pages that have long been untouched isn't a great contribution, imo.

The "vandalism" you're referring to was just putting you in my shoes from what I could tell. You may deny it, but you were banned for stalking in the past. If you want to force other people's bans onto their page, why shouldn't the same be done on yours?

On top of everything, while you were "helping" you made a page bragging about how you dug up over 180 people's contact information who no longer had ties to MFGG. You had to stalk them onto other platforms and communities to obtain that information and you admit as much on that article you made. Is it really slander to call you out as a stalker under those circumstances? It doesn't really matter what your intentions are when you're doing something as serious as that.

You're here playing the victim, but you did this all to yourself from where I am sitting.
God forbid I add more information! So why exactly have a wiki if you can't update it? I was never banned for stalking, but keep spinning that revisionist history narrative. I wasn't "stalking" them, I would inviting them back. But I that's just an abominable evil and wrong!!! It is slander.

Posting private conversations and using it as an excuse to ban someone. You really have no shame.

RE: My Thoughts on the Wiki - Alexandra - 08-14-2019

I'd be very cool with deleting most pages (including user pages and articles about memes and drama). Keep like, the articles about fan games and drawing competitions and stuff, cut out all the documentation of forum drama from ten years ago, which has no positive use and a lot potential negative ones.

EDIT: Slightly off-topic, but I think it would be pretty cool if LGBTQphobia were explicitly against the rules and that rule was upheld

General Guy, I thought you said you were done with MFGG.

If you're done why are you still posting this bs.

Popping in to defend myself from this bs.

RE: My Thoughts on the Wiki - Pedigree - 08-14-2019

Nobody was talking about you anymore until you tried to play the victim.

RE: My Thoughts on the Wiki - Fun With Despair - 08-14-2019

Yoshin's thoughts on the wiki are a valid reason for a thread, but this has gone way too far in the flamewar direction. The original post was the main purpose for this thread, and it will remain preserved if I lock this, so lock it I shall.

This is actively unproductive.

RE: My Thoughts on the Wiki - Fun With Despair - 08-15-2019

now that General Guy has presumably disappeared and you've all calmed down, I'm gonna unlock this again. You can resume wiki talk here.

i already used "this but unironically" once in this thread so i had to change it up whilst still agreeing that user pages and fad pages should be nuked into oblivion

RE: My Thoughts on the Wiki - EDGE - 08-15-2019

Just thought I'd ask here since we are at it.
I don't recall telling anyone my name yet it's in my MFGG WIKI page.
It doesn't bother me at all, I just don't remember anyone mentioning it to me... that information just seemed to appear there out of nowhere.
Would it be too much trouble to ask Members if they are okay with the information submitted in their page? (Not sarcasm, just a question/suggestion.)

I'm going to second this. I really don't think there should be personal information on the wiki (if we keep user pages), unless the original user posts it themselves or okays it being posted to the wiki. Having personal information on the wiki ties a user to their past (which may not always have been so great), and people don't need to be shamed years down the line for something they did as a kid or teen. There have already been incidents where users have been targeted using decade old drama from the wiki for malicious purposes. Or there have also been cases where that information has been used against them in the employment process.

More on this, I feel that if user pages are to be kept, there needs to be an option to opt out of having a user page. There is a serious issue if user's real life well being can be affected by information that is posted on the wiki of some Mario fan game site. If someone wants all of their information to stay on the wiki, cool, more power to them, but for other users that would rather move on from their past, I think having the option to opt out and delete their page is the best middle ground. Its unacceptable and unethical to have personal information on the wiki without the consent of the original user and I'm sure plenty would rather bury their past. I'll be perfectly honest, I don't know what the wiki's current policy is on this, but if a similar policy is not already implemented, I really feel that it ought to be.
