Information on 2002 "Great Kyle Flamewar" and "Anti SFGHQ" movement. - sonicfire2001 - 07-08-2018

Greetings from the past!

I am writing a historical piece for SFGHQ at the moment and I am currently focusing on the golden generation of the community. So far I have a few refernces, the MFGG Wiki, An old AIM chat and various stories I have collected from discord.

I would love to speak to Neo Hyper Yoshi, Kera(Kyle), or anyone else who was active at the time to listen to their recollection of their experiences.

I have been trying to locate lexef but alas, with no avail so far.

Here are the references I have been using for this section of the piece...

i still dont remotely understand everyone's fascination with things that happened on this board 15 years ago

Sounds interesting! I've talked to Kyle on Skype a few times, so I know he still exists. I'm not sure of the best way to contact Neo Hyper Yoshi, but he has an account on the current forums and you could try sending him a PM. I'm not sure who lexef is.

@Yrr If it doesn't interest you, that's fine, but it might interest other people! I'm pretty sure none of us are ruminating over things that happened 15+ years ago, but it was an interesting time in the history of the Internet that might make for an interesting reflection.

@sonicfire2001 Most people who were around at the time probably aren't around here anymore. I think @Kritter is the only one who's actively here who's been here since the start, there's a few others who pop in from time to time though. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is @"Jonna The Bunn" (fka DJ Yoshiman) though.

I don't know where any of the people that you mentioned in your post are but I might know where a few Ancient MFGG Members are or at least where to find them if you have any more names!

For example, in your log:

- Kiddo Cabbusses runs NCFC every year at http://nintendocfc.com/ , he's in the MFGG discord under the username Kiddo
- Cutmanmike runs Mega Man: 8-bit Deathmatch, over here http://cutstuff.net/mm8bdm/ and is on Twitter https://twitter.com/CutmanMike
- Dark Yoshi87 is also on Twitter, over here: https://twitter.com/darkyoshi87

I don't think I recognize anyone else in the log. On Discord I think you menthoned nite shadow? He's on Vinny's forum over here: http://forums.bibbyteam.com/?act=vu52&view=profile

Very cool that you have such an interest in the history of the community you are a part of(?) however I can't help but think your time would be better suited learning differential equations, creating new things or my personal hobby of choice; looking at pictures of Anne Hathaway.

this is a personal favorite of mine

Hey man, saw the email - give me a couple days to come up with an answer, I would know a bit about all these. If I forget, just poke me on twitter; https://twitter.com/The_Misty_Chaos

I was there for all of it but don't ask me to remember anything because it's all fuzzy now. I was apparently 17 in that chat log and I'm 33 now. All's I remember after MFGG got destroyed was Thunder Dragon deciding he wasn't up to the task of keeping MFGG in check and decided to leave me in charge instead due to my work on the mainsite and helping calm the masses.
