Automatically hide banned members posts by default. - Heavy Fire - 07-29-2018

I propose that posts by banned members should be hidden by default on MFGG in order to keep the forums free of drama.

What do you think about it?

I don't think this feature is necessary. It's very rare that a member gets banned for longer than a few days. If a spambot joins, though, we'll probably hide all their topics/posts.

Bad idea imo. I wanna be able to read their bad posts.

The other downside is that the people who were involved in an argument with them, will look as if they are talking to something inexistent, which is awkward. No telling how awkward it would be if the banned user made a thread with replies

I think if it was so that one couldn't PM them or do anything with them (such as adding them to your buddy list) or post anything in their threads would be fine but hiding them would be unnecessary.

Agreed. I'd much prefer to read the banned user's posts, because from personal experience on other forums, some banned members contribute some interesting threads/posts that are enjoyable to read through before their bannable offense.

Plus, this essentially renders the whole issue moot.

@rollerC touched on this, but there's another reason we usually avoid removing posts unless they're especially bad or pointless. Not every post by a banned member is bad, and removing a post can create a hole in a topic, and it might remove the context of other posts in the topic. So if we removed a bunch of posts, some useful topics might be rendered unusable.
