Although I am not part of the moderating team nor I am not really a staff member. I have to break several points out from my perspective in a logical manner. Let me put it this way:

that's a perfectly fair opinion to have but it doesn't justify locking a thread without giving a reason imo

Your ban was informed and the rest of the topics were continuing a locked topic, which is against the rules.

Doesn't matter, you still have to give a reason in the thread when you lock a topic. This shouldn't STILL be an issue. The staff have discussed that we should should be communicating a reason repeatedly.

I'm going to leave this locked because another thread with essentially the same suggestion has been accepted. It was locked originally due to continuation of a locked thread by another staff member. Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion.
