I have regrets. About not making games. - Mariotroid - 10-26-2018
I've been on this forum for a good 13 years. I've made friends/acquaintances here. Never got too too involved in making friends on here.
I started making games because of Metroid Prime 2D. It inspired me. As such I tried making metroid games. I made good friends with two people for a project called Metroid Genesis. It never really went anywhere. I tried making a game called Metroud Stick Figure Mission, that was really something. It was only 5 minutes long when I made it but damn was it great.
I made a few cool minigames on this site, first one when I was 15. They were pretty well done. I then started smoking weed and got disinterested in fangames and valued girls and metal music. I should have stayed the course but I didnt.
I tried so many times to make cool games. A lot of Mario fangame ideas came and went nowhere. I regret not working harder. I regret not making games. I especially regret not continuing to work of Metroid Terror, Metroid Stick Figure mission and other cool games. I quit working on them.
Now I'm making a game for a dead forum that is past due. I still want to make Mario Holidays, I just wish I didnt have regrets.
Tl;dr:: I regret not making games. Or continuing my work on big projects. I regret never making a full length fangame in 14 years of game development.

Actually, sometimes I procrastinate a lot when making games, even during Minigame Competitions. People do have lives outside of MFGG on this site.
Sometimes I actually procrastinate watching TV or playing other games or doing something else. So as long as you can moderate and attempt to dedicate yourself, you can finish that fangame. Actually, I never have finished a fangame on this site at all, even though I have tons and tons of *.gmx and *.gm8 files.

It's as they say, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
Yeah there's a lot of joy in working on projects on the side, whether its games, websites, music, art, etc. However not everyone's in the right spot in life where they can take these kinds of projects on.
That being said, being aware of all the things you could have done shouldn't be a walk of shame- it should be a fire lit on your ass to start doing the things you love as soon as possible.
