Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 11-30-2017

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - VinnyVideo - 12-02-2017

Is there any way to play the castle level in this demo?

You'll want to fix the transparency around the Piranha Plants - just replace all the blue background with a color where transparency is zero. This can be done quickly in GM.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Turly Gang - 12-04-2017

And so it begins.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 12-04-2017

not in the demos exe Vinny. in the gm file itself i can move around the rooms to make it playable but its about as boring as the level in demo. i need to make all the every engine mechanics before i am make the full levels and goal points but ive been having a hard struggle for the programming especially now since long hav i took a break

ok Soopa? like literally go f*** urself ok? i am so sick of this s*** from u. u stalk my work and constantly interject urself and post with ur little quips. if u dont like it dont hang around. get a life and find something u do enjoy instead of making recurring appearances in my thread just for mockery. so u say it begins huh? ok then smart ass heres how it begins. we get this ongoing issue outof the way right now by telling u exactly what needed to be said to u long ago. keep ur snarky comments to urself if u have nothing noteworthy to contribute. u are srsly not as funny or witty as u think u are

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Turly Gang - 12-04-2017

I wouldn't exactly say that I "stalk your work," considering that I didn't even make a single post on your second project's topic on the old forums. I also never posted anything on your DeviantArt page, or went out of my way to find any other sites that you're active on.

This isn't about you, this is about MFGG, one of the last strongholds against the Rule34 Army. If it were anybody else, I'd react the same way. Even if this isn't strictly against the site's rules, and even if I can't do anything about it, I'm still not just going to say "Oh, yeah, unimaginably slow and painful death porn. That's a nice addition." I don't normally bring my agendas and worldviews into casual places like this, but hey, you brought yours, so why not? Heck, I'm doing you a favor. People never just bring controversial and unpopular stuff like this to casual forums hoping not to start any battles or afford themselves the opportunity to fight for their cause in bloody gladiatorial combat. No, seriously. I'm not coming off as "funny" because I'm not trying to be "funny." None of this is "funny." This is the kind of thing that turned DeviantArt from "the world's biggest online art collection" to the butt of every joke. I'm going to do everything in my tiny and insignificant power to slow the transformation of this site into that even if only by a minute, and if I have to make myself look like the sourest persimmon in the world to do that, then small loss. At least that'll only tarnish my reputation, as opposed to the entire community's.

Lol that's a new one. I think I'll quote that sometime, because I find this term hilarious, and it suits my meta very well.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 12-04-2017

ok 1st of all ur such a hypocrit. ur the one who went off on that weird little fanfiction about Rachel and Lemmy in that yoshi smw hack thread completely unprovoked. i dont care if it was supposed to be a joke. u still brought the concept into a thread that had nothing to do with it until u interjected

2nd wow u must be such a net activist. so if this is about your petty little crusade against the 'rule 34 army' ur gonna have to do a little bit more than just periodically shitpost in my threads. go talk to the staff make a formal report start ur own thread. if i see one more of these worthless shitposts in another one of my threads from u or anyone else consider it reported

feel free to critique and talk about the games development however

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Turly Gang - 12-04-2017

While I feel like you're severely downplaying the significance of all of this, I do suppose you have a point. I shouldn't be derailing the thread, I guess. Perhaps I'll make my own thread at some point after more introspection, or perhaps I won't, considering I've already said more or less everything that I have to say on the subject for now.

Anyway, on the topic of the game itself, it's definitely a...platformer, I guess? With the exception of the vore mechanics, it's pretty basic, but it technically works fine. While it probably sounds like I'm ranting again, it suffers from one of the problems that almost all <fetish> games have; the gameplay clearly exists primarily to be a simple framework to hold up the "main attraction." That's a problem, because it adds a ton of complexity to the mathematics and spritework of the game that doesn't contribute to any corresponding degree of gameplay depth or player options, and thus greatly restricts what can practically be done with the gameplay beyond the "main attraction." All that it really adds objectively to gameplay is an extremely delayed heal mechanic and the ability to temporarily gimp your abilities while at max capacity. Which...sort of compensates for the healing mechanic, I guess? Although said healing mechanic is slow enough that it doesn't really need to be compensated for. Rachel controls like a pretty standard Mario character, the enemies all just walk left and right with the exception of the currently non-interactive Venus Firetraps, and the level collision consists entirely of solid square blocks.

So while it's a functional game, it's probably a game that only people who are into the fetish will get much out of. I could see it being something that'd blow up temporarily on YouTube for the "lolwut" factor, but...yeah. While the aforementioned vore mechanics work very well, they don't really make the game more fun for someone who isn't into vore. It's a very basic game with a very specific twist.

@Soopakoopa: the "Be Nice To One Another" rule says:

Quote:Don't harass, annoy, troll, threaten, or flame other members. Be courteous and respectful to everyone, and keep all critique constructive in tone. Do not start arguments or attempt to "bait" other members.

I think it's fair to say that your post wasn't very nice, and was somewhat bait-y. If you have an issue with a user's content, report it. If it doesn't break rules but you think there should be a rule against it, petition the staff or post about it in Suggestions. Trying to bully somebody off of MFGG for things they're allowed to post is unacceptable.

@sl0shy: the "Keep Swearing To A Minimum" rule says:

Quote:4) Keep Swearing to a Minimum
The message boards are intended to be a place that anyone of any age can enjoy. Keep swearing to a minimum, and don't attempt to bypass the swear filter.
  • Minor swears will not get you warned as long as you aren't being excessive with them, but we still don't encourage them.
  • Bigger ones should be avoided entirely, but if they appear in any media you're posting (and the media itself is relevant and reasonable enough), you need to have it in a spoiler tag with a warning beforehand.

Also, it's better to not engage people who are harassing you; it just fuels the fire, and you end up breaking rules too. In the future, please report them instead.

Don't carry this on anymore; let's get back on topic.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 12-04-2017

@Soopa. u did mention this once before and its something that has stuck with me. ive been wanting to do something about it for a while before i took a break from devvment. u said theres nothing yoshi or mario aboit it. once i can get something worked out with the programming weather its me doing it or someone else i would like to get the marioy mechanics worked more smoothly into the eating mechanics so it feels like a decent mario game with my own interests worked into it. i dont rly program games as smoothly as others do. it seems everybody else just codes there games like its nothing and frequently just posts ther progress. me on the other hand just looks up tutorials posts on forums and hits up better programmers painfully stumbling thru even the most basic tasks. im lucky to hav even getted this far with tbh. im not trying to make excuses i jst want u to kno that this is a concern of mine and i hope to hav something done a out it before too long its just been a rough road

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Evil Yoshi Toes - 12-04-2017

Nice game looks neat

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 12-05-2017

ty! Love

i just think ppl dont rly realize that what is shown in the demo does no justice for what i intend it to be in the long run. its easy to see the game in the early stage and take it at face value and assume that its what the game is suppose to look like in the long run

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Syaxamaphone - 12-05-2017

What happened to the shark? Are you going back to a Yoshi or is this a separate project?

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - DustinVG - 12-05-2017

Honestly, I think both of y'all here are behaving a bit out of line. Soopa really shouldn't be prodding like that and Sloshy really overreacted, imo.

Anyway, I haven't commented on the game thus far because its intent is pretty clear and that's not really my bag, y'know?

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - VinnyVideo - 12-05-2017

@sl0shy Getting started with programming is not an easy thing! It takes a lot of time and hard work, and lots of Googling of tutorials and pages explaining how to use different functions. It's totally normal to get frustrated with the development process. Everyone who makes games had some struggles getting started.

One thing that might help would be to make sure that you understand fundamental programming concepts - variables, loops, functions, that sort of thing. Make sure you have a good grasp of the basics, and then doing more advanced things will become a lot easier.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Hiro-sofT - 12-14-2017

My two cents regarding the new background:
The resolution of certain objects in the background is inconsistent, which leaves a unprofessional and lazy impression.

I explain further and more clearly:
The YI final boss moon and clouds are resized to be 2x as big as their original size, while the rest is at a 1x resolution. My advice to improve this would be that you either shrink the moon and the clouds back to a 1x resolution or to smoothen out the rough pixels of the resized assets to make them fit in with the rest of the background.

I assume the foreground is still far from finish or just probably a placeholder. If not, you should add in more variety to those tiles to make the level look more interesting like windows, thrusters and screws.

Also, as a side note, be careful with that health bar. When it’s getting big (or bigger than the preview), it could easily cover a good chunk of the screen. Either build the level with the health bar in mind or make it a little bit transparent, so you can still see something behind it. Otherwise it could obscure something the player needs to see.

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Nessa - 12-14-2017

huh weird. i thought i'd pulled that yi boss moon rip as is. im not a big fan of resolution inconsistents either so i am change it

RE: Rachel the Yoshi Girl - Fun With Despair - 12-16-2017

I do not think this game looks very good.
