It's a really great game. I find it pretty tricky too, but it's not so tricky that I'm unable to play it.

Nice! I think you'll enjoy playing SM64. Even if certain aspects of the game are a bit dated, it's still a very fun game.
For me, SM64 had a bit of a learning curve because it was my first 3-D Mario game, but I didn't find the game to be incredibly difficult. Some of the difficulty steps from camera issues - Super Mario Sunshine definitely benefited from the C-stick giving you better control of the camera.

Yes the camera is so odd, it gives off the error sound a little bit everywhere, it feels like i can't rotate it more than 360 degrees.
But it's a fun game, i like it very much, exploring tiny mountains and caves with nice melodies.

Mario 64 is a solid title but not the best n64 game (Best n64 game still goes to Banjo Tooie)

I've only played the DS version but I've always wanted to play the original 64 one.
