Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Mors - 07-29-2019

We've updated the forum software for better security, stability, and all that kinda boring stuff earlier today. If you encounter any glitches and such, you can report them here in this thread. We are also currently working on fixing some issues with the text editor, that's why the UI for it is different for it as of right now. (EDIT: That's also now fixed Walrus)

We've also added a bunch of new emotes made by @mit! They were made back in 2015 but uhhh... Better late than never, am I right?

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Pedigree - 07-29-2019

alert box doesn't show sometimes even if you have a new one

The new quote system is horrible and requires you to click on a button to stop typing in the quote box lmao

Which new quote system? It should work the same.

Only problem I have is that photos and avatars are too big. I’m on mobile.

One of the forum image icons for the Classic 2003-2008 MFGG skin is broken.  Sonic

Also, stop this from popping up after loading a web page:

for the first one, the MFGG classic theme (the mainsite-looking one?) is missing the "New Posts, Closed Thread" icon

for the second one, I've been sitting on this theory for a while:

1. give the red alert box an attribute, something like "data-alert-count", and make its value the number of unread notifications
2. have a CSS rule that's something like: [data-alert-count="0"] { display: none; }

also, another issue is that notifications double-dipping like "user liked this post" and "user quoted this post", but looking at the liked post doesn't take care of the issue. idk if this is fixable with mybb

Fixed the first one but unfortunately I don't know if there's anything I can do for the second.

Sounds good! Thanks

Thank you Mors!

Also, I was wondering if we could add the classic smileys by Doc Wario back?

Took a look at it and it seems you could easily fix it just by declaring "display: none" for the alert span and overriding it through whatever MyBB code changes it, instead of declaring "display: none" later. If that's not possible somehow you could cover it up with a fade-in animation.

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Mors - 07-29-2019

I managed to fix it Handsome

It was far simpler than I thought lol. I had to apply into every theme individually, so I hope I didn't miss any.

Couple of bug reports in the forum of a Discord screenshot.

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Yoshin - 07-29-2019

yeah this update is horrible for mobile

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - VinnyVideo - 07-29-2019

Thanks for updating MyBB - it's been a while. I heard a few horror stories about the newer MyBB patches and was a bit wary of making the leap, but I haven't noticed any major issues (at least on desktop).

@GeneralGuy I have a feeling that there might still be some themes with broken images - I remember finding a number of them a few months ago.

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Mario - 07-29-2019

Good work. MyBB is a nightmare to keep up to date.

This is... strange. This doesn't happen to me on mobile at all. If I can manage to replicate it though I'll take a look at it.

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Retriever II - 07-29-2019

Is there a word filter?  Because it totally didn't work for me a few minutes ago (oopsie).

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Thunderbro - 07-30-2019

Yeah it's not such a great thing to break mobile compatibility in 2019.

RE: Forum Software Update + New Emotes - Mors - 07-30-2019

Okay so hopefully I've fixed all the issues relating to the mobile theme.

There is and I just checked it, it should work.

But if there's any word we missed in there you're free to report it.
