When you're lying in bed, wrapped deep in a dream, and suddenly you wake up startled, a crash from across the house slicing through your peaceful rest like a knife through butter. You wearily haul yourself to your feet, and you decide to go see what the crash was. You go downstairs to the kitchen, where it looked like it could have come from, but there's no one there at all, and nothing seems out of place.
Confused, you look around a bit, and notice that your back door is wide open, creaking as light breeze pushes it back and forth on its hinges. You stick your head out into the cold midnight air, and survey your backyard, but still, nothing is even remotely strange.
Shrugging, you close the door and head back upstairs to bed, but as your hand grips the stair railing, a thought comes to mind.
What if someone's in the house?
You grab a knife from the kitchen drawer, just in case, and check the rooms on the main floor. Nothing in the kitchen or living room. You go upstairs and check your bedroom and the guest room, still nothing. With a sigh, you go back downstairs, put your knife back in the drawer, and sit down on the toilet in the bathroom, your panic earlier stimulating your bladder.
As the shower curtain slides open and something looks out, you realize there's somewhere you forgot to check. Dread washing over you, you turn your eyes to the curtain, and see....
...Well, I'll let you decide what was behind the curtain. Picture the thing that would scare you most. Whether it's a serial killer with a blade, a slack-jawed, shambling corpse, a ghost, a giant chittering insect, thousands of legs skittering around, or a creature beyond human comprehension, just know one thing, my friends.
Whatever you envision, is not even a fraction as terrifying as the idea that what lies behind the curtain is Littleum's avatar.
