Could you see MFGG as an "underground remix culture"? - Parakarry - 08-17-2019

Some months ago SM posted this article about MFGG and its history and all that. In this article he talks about how he used it as a prompt for a paper in college, and with the explaining of what a fangame is, the teacher likened the place to an "underground remix culture", which is an interesting take. Do you see elements of that here>

after digging up the definition of  remix culture from this wikipedia article, which can be seen below;
Quote:Remix culture, sometimes read-write culture, is a society that allows and encourages derivative works by combining or editing existing materials to produce a new creative work or product.
i'd say mfgg is by all means an underground remix culture.

I dunno if I can.You would have to askthat to Sm cause he's the one involved. I feel MFGG would be more like a club or a music scene or something, just instead of music, it's Mario.
And quasi-legal.

Parakarry, do you remember when I got you to record some lines in Mario's voice for Mario Spy, one being "Oh great, the police are after me. I've got a job to do, get off MY BACK!"

That is definitely an example of an element of remix culture happening right here, man.

Calling fangaming "underground remix culture" makes it sound way cooler than it actually is lol
