What book are you reading? - Evil Yoshi Toes - 08-26-2019

Hello, Gamers Wink

I’ve always liked reading, but just recently have I been forcing myself to do it more often. I’m realizing how many great stories I was missing out on!

I just finished A Game of Thrones and it was great. I decided to take a break from that series before picking up the second book, so now I’m reading The Baker’s Boy by J.V. Jones. It’s a 90s high fantasy novel that I came across in a used book store. I’m not very far into it, but it has princesses and castles and magic spells so it’s pretty cool. It’s definitely not kid friendly though!

Use this topic to discuss books you’ve read or are currently reading if you’d like to.

Currently reading book I of Ovid’s Metamorphosis, it’s about Greek/Roman mythology

Here’s an article about the books

NSFW, it’s art, but some people might have issues seeing naked bodies.

Currently reading What to Do When There's Too Much to Do by Laura Stack. Generally I know a lot of productivity techniques myself (though there's a few here and there I'm picking up from this) but I'm really looking for a simple guide I could share with others. So far I think this is pretty solid in the contents but I'm not sure the way it presents it is the way I'd want to go- just quite a few things in it that I think someone reading might just mentally check out if they read, which obviously isn't my goal LOL.

Just finished Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire and it is phenomenal. It's gotta be my favorite book of all time- I'm not sure if I'll be able to give it justice describing it but I've really never felt the level of compassion and encouragement for working with others that this book brings ot the table. Highly recommended.

Currently reading book 1 of I Shall Seal the Heavens, which... is very easy reading, and is kinda fun, but isn't exactly a masterpiece. Haven't read a lot in a long while bc of dysphoria, and am still slowly getting back into it.

Read Artemis Fowl, a psychology textbook and now reading The Idiots Guide to Writing a Graphic Novel, as well as Artemis Fowl 2. Great books all of them. Artemis Fowl is straightforward and a fun quick read. It's fun and lighthearted and kinda cool.

I'm presently chipping my way through Poilu, by Louis Barthas.

Barthas was a French soldier during WWI and he survived the whole war. The book is his war diaries that have been turned into a novel.
