New Paper Mario game coming soon? - Parakarry - 01-20-2020
This is squarely in the rumor category, but I heard it being talked about on Vinny's channel on Vinesauce. And the idea of it sounds amazing.
Don't know much about this, but search for Paper Mario on Google. And supposedly it's going to go back to the classic Paper Mario RPG style.
... I really want this to be true.

I wish. Hopefully Intelligent Systems return to the traditional Paper Mario formula of 64 and The Thousand-Year Door.

While I definitely don't believe leaks, I also don't think that the series is dead forever like some people seem to think just because Color Splash sold poorly. Nintendo knows the Wii U was a failure, and they haven't killed any series yet just because the Wii U entry did poorly.
Now, will they go back to the classic formula? That's what I'm not entirely sure about. For what it's worth, Color Splash WAS a good deal closer to the original games than Sticker Star was, even having an EXP system of sorts in the game, and the writing/character variety was much better in that one as well. Even if they don't straight up revisit the original formula 1:1, I think that after Sticker Star they ARE trying to move the series closer in the direction of a proper RPG again.

In that regard it kind of reminds me of Super Mario Party. It's like on one hand there was this desire to revert back to the classic formula because that's what audiences wanted, but there was also the (understandable) desire to be new and different and fresh. Unfortunately in the cases of both Super Mario Party and Color Splash the new and different things just make the games worse instead of fresh.
