RE: Nostalgic Webpages - miff - 05-01-2020

I have vague memories of going on http://boomansion.net/ a lot but it's been completely dead for a couple years now. Also this one specific flash game website that I can't seem to find or remember the name of  Sad

How's this one on for size?

https://www.vgmusic.com/ is still up, too. I'm still using it today.

Yeah, I remember Boo Mansion! There was an old member here who also went by the name Boo Mansion.

I remember that one too, along with ffshrine.org which I used to frequent back in the day for video game soundtracks. (RIP)

I dunno if anyone here has even heard of these websites, but they're definitely nostalgic to me.

These are great!

I found this website a while ago, which is from 1997:

http://www.cix.co.uk/~go1/main.htm

This is the first review I read on that website:

i visit ign.com for game news everyday.

I remember one short comic about shy guys having cracks in their masks and all that junk, it was funny due to the best ms paint job back in the day, also there was one where mario took a poop on the ground while luigi gets fuming (weird fetish going on).

Ever want a search engine that only looks for classic (and classic style) webpages? I just found one -- two, actually!

https://theoldnet.com/
https://wiby.me/

I submitted a bunch of webpages to the latter search engine, including Bowser Tech, and now that comes up in the top if you look up "Bowser"!

RE: Nostalgic Webpages - Q-Nova - 07-25-2021

I submitted a bunch of MFGG pages to Wiby (link can be found in the post above)! This includes the main site index, various games (including Psycho Waluigi, Toad Strikes Back, Mario's Mansion 3, Super Mario PC, and Ode to Zelda), some main site content pages, the forums index, this topic, and the IPB archives index! Just type in "mfgg" and you'll see what I mean! I had submitted even more pages, but either Wiby didn't accept them or technical issues caused the pages to not get sent. I might have to try again, since I had to submit some pages twice to get them in. I wish MFGG could display the name of the game/resource in the page title, since most of the MFGG results are indistinguishable right now.

Here's a couple nostalgic sites I found that only oldbies might remember. The first one is actually still up, although it's no longer updated.

Cool! Is Wiby just a search engine, or is it like Wayback Machine?

RE: Nostalgic Webpages - Q-Nova - 07-26-2021

@GeneralGuy Wiby is a search engine. It's made to make finding non-commercialized, non-resource intensive, personalized websites (like those from the old days) easier and even fun. The About Wiby page gives really good info about its purpose.

RE: Nostalgic Webpages - Q-Nova - 11-25-2021

Anyone who's making a "Mario character vs. Windows" game should look at the nostalgic site linked below:

http://toastytech.com/evil/index.html

I'm sure it'll provide a lot of good ideas! It's also very funny! Laughing
