You are an Italian plumber named Mario. You and you brother Luigi are sleeping at home when you awoken by a knock a the door. You open the door and see Toad standing there with an exasperated look on his face.
"The Princess Peach has been kidnapped!" exclaims Toad.
"What?!" you say. "Where is she?"
Toad continues to explain, "Princess Peach has been taken to 'Koopa Castle' over in Koopa Village."
"What are we waiting for? Let's go save her!"
"No! We need to wait until morning before going out there," says Toad. "But I'm sure you have all the tools needed to get rid of this problem right now." You nod your head agreeing with Toad's words.
"Let's go then!"
You and Toad leave your house and set off towards Koopa Village. Soon after leaving your house, you hear Toad's voice calling out to you from behind. He tells you that he needs to speak with you immediately about something important.
"What is it?" you ask.
"I want you to help me!" Toad shouts. "We're being attacked by these bad guys called Goombas!" You turn around and see several Goombas running toward you from the direction where Toad was yelling from earlier. You quickly grab Toad by the hand and run away from the Goombas. The two of you make your way through various Koopa Villages while avoiding their attacks. Eventually, you reach a large castle which looks like it could be made out of stone and brick. You enter the castle and find yourself in a room filled with many strange looking machines. Toad stands nearby watching as well.
"This is what they use to control the Goombas," Toad explains.
"How do they work?" you ask Toad.
"They use a device called a Game Genie to transform them into evil monsters," Toad replies. "It's not very powerful though; only one person can use it at any given time." You continue to listen as Toad explains more about the devices and how they're used.
Suddenly, Bowser appears in front of you and Toad. He begins to yell at both of you.
Bowser: "(Sigh) It's just too bad that my plans didn't come true... But I guess that doesn't matter now. Now, let's play a game!" You scream out loudly for Bowser to release Princess Peach. Bowser does nothing but stare at you.
Bowser: "What?! Are you nuts?! This isn't worth it!"
You: "Release Princess Peach! I'll prove myself worthy of saving her!" You slap Bowser across the face. After doing so, Bowser lets out a loud roar.
Bowser: "Oh dear God! That hurt! And you're still demanding me to release her?!"
"Release her or I'll slap you again!" you yell. Bowser looks at you angrily and then walks over to the door.
Bowser: "Well? Will you please open this door for me?"
"Depends. Is Princess Peach in the room?" Bowser nods his head and opens the door. Inside is a small room with a bed and some other furniture. A single light bulb hangs on the wall above it all. You walk into the room and see a young girl lying on the bed. She has long blonde hair and wears a pink dress with white flowers on it. Her eyes are closed and she seems to be asleep. There is also a small vase next to her. You grab the vase and smash it against the girl's forehead several times until she wakes up from her sleep. The girl looks at you confusedly, but then smiles when she sees who you are.
"I'm here to rescue you, Princess," you say. The girl smiles and then kisses you on the cheek.
Bowser: (Sniffle) "So this is what real love feels like..." (Sigh) "I suppose it IS real afterall..."
You say "Let's go back, Princess. Toad is worried about you." The princess smiles and nods her head.
Bowser: (Groan) "Very well, I will let you go. For now though, I must get ready for our next battle!" You leave Koopa Castle with Peach and Toad. Bowser doesn't even look in your direction as he walks away. You return to Princess Peach's castle. As soon as you enter, Bowser appears from behind a pillar. He grabs Peach by the hand and leads her off the balcony of the castle.
Peach: "What are you doing?! Let me go!"
"Release her, you fiend!" you yell. "If you don't I'll slap you across the face again!" Bowser lets go of Peach and turns around to glare at you. Bowser slaps you across the face several times before walking out of sight.
Peach: "That was really mean! Now where did that stupid monster come from?"
"He must've used a warp pipe," you say. Peach nods and goes inside the castle.
