I do, provided the minions aren't there for like 95% of the film. I don't think it'll be a cult classic, but it'll flesh the characters out well enough I guess.

I liked the first Despicable Me and Nintendo is keeping a close eye. It'll probably be fine.

I completely forgot about this movie! I'm still not convinced about this idea. I don't expect it to be nearly as wild as any of the american non-game Mario media from the 90s, and considering Nintendo rejected a comic book pitch, up to this point I was thinking that they weren't interested on expanding Mario outside video games.
One thing that intrigues me are the character's voices. You know that Mario is always silent in the games, except for a few short voice lines, so all the real dialogue is delivered by other characters. Would it be different in this movie? Or is Nintendo letting Mario speak for a whole feature film? If the latter is true, I don't want to have Charles Martinet doing it. I think his voice would be annoying to hear for more than 20 minutes. Sorry, it's just my opinion!

I think it'll be average. Illumination doesn't do better than that, and I don't think Nintendo will let it be bad.

Since it's illumination it's probably gonna be mediocre or alright. Expect a pretty Sticker Star like plot though, as nintendo tend to be really careful and precise with their IPs when it comes to branching out and Illumination don't really care about any of their films being good as long as the film is marketable and will make money.

With the recent string of GOOD video game adaptations (Sonic, Pikachu). I think the movie will be pretty good. I'm excited for the way Mario is interpreted. My guess is he will still be a silent protagonist, same with Luigi. Also, I'd love to see what kind of special effects and cgi this movie will have.

If it's good as the previous movie then I'm up for it
The mario games has a plenty of elements of they could use in the movie, I hope they use some of them instead of making some bland world where everything is straight from New Super Mario Bros or something.
Also, I kinda of want a more adventurous movie rather than something emotional and deep that is expected from basically every 3D animated movie nowadays, but if ends being good either way I'm fine with that.

it will suck because its by illumination
and no miyamoto's presence doesnt guarantee illumination wont try to put their tropes in it. unless they get a writer that knows what theyre doing
