Neweegee's sprite topic (Neweegee in Denial Edition) - Neweegee - 05-15-2022 Well I'm here again lol Why'd I come back here NOW? Well, long story short... While I think the Discords and Twitters of the world can be good for quick posts and keeping in touch with friends, I think moving EVERYTHING to them was a mistake, mostly for archival reasons. I could go into detail, but that'd be a giant, 20 minute wall of text rant and I don't want to do that to you! Is it too late to go back now? Yes So why am I really here? Could it also be me trying... to reach out one final time toward a bygone era that I was too naïve and timid at the time to truly appreciate on a 20-something years old forum, in-spite of a rapidly-changing internet landscape deciding it's well past the time to move on? Maybe... There's a lot of pixel art I've done over the years, but most of that can already be seen on my Twitter or Deviant Art pages. Here I'm gonna focus on sprite-sheets and other "larger" projects. To keep it a bit more simple. Right now I'm doing a Super Mario World styled Lurantis spritesheet. I've always made small, 32x32 Lurantis sprites every few years for one reason or another, but this time I wanna turn it into a full SMW-style spritesheet. ![]() Here's the animations so far... ![]() ![]() I've taken a few liberties with SMW's art-style, but I'm still designing it within SMW's limitations so that Lurantis' sprites would work in the actual game via romhacking and Ladida's 32x32 player tilemap patch. That said, there're extra fames here that wouldn't work in SMW(like the frame between the jump and fall sprites). They aren't essential, but are just here if you're using these outside of SMW and just want Lurantis to be a bit more animated(as many of Mario's "animations" are a single frame). Those extra frames have a yellow background. Also the small form will be Fomantis when the time comes. Let me know what you think... if you're still out there! RE: Neweegee's sprite topic (Neweegee in Denial Edition) - Vert - 05-16-2022 It's good. Too good for SMW's art style. RE: Neweegee's sprite topic (Neweegee in Denial Edition) - VinnyVideo - 05-16-2022 Those are very cool! As Vert mentioned, your animation is better than the official SMW sprites, though it would still be fun to see how this would work in a ROM hack. It definitely has the distinctive Neweegee vibe of smooth animations with a lot of personality. Also, I totally agree that the forums deserve more love! RE: Neweegee's sprite topic (Neweegee in Denial Edition) - E-Man - 05-18-2022 I rarely post on this forum myself because I barely have anything to show. WHen I saw that you posted something, Neweegee, I just had to reply! As expected, you still have that pixel touch! As for me, I completed m prototype rig not that long ago. I'd post some tests, but I'm awfully busy with other maters. Besides helping a friend, I'm also, writign a book series of this adorable character created! RE: Neweegee's sprite topic (Neweegee in Denial Edition) - Q-Nova - 06-14-2022 Welcome back Neweegee! I totally agree with you on forums! The cool kids may not care for those anymore, but we still do! As long as we keep posting here and the forum never breaks or gets deleted, this forum shall live on! I see that you've still got that excellent sprite-making skill! Your sprites look very good; a bit advanced for SMW (not that I'm complaining), but it'd be quite fun to see it in a ROM hack! I'd love to see more of your work! ![]() |
