thinking about it, theres rarely any olde mario fangames on any sites at all.

I know for sure there were really rudimentary KNP games back in the 90's that were hosted on sites other than MFGG, and never made it to MFGG at all. I remember playing one with Kirby wayyy back.
There are also some lost MFGG classics that you can no longer play, such as an awesome demo from the mid-2000's of Luigi's Game by Shadowman, or Super Mario Legend of the Timestopper by Willy Goldwater, one of the first fangames to have original hand-drawn graphics.
