What game development tools do you use? - GeneSu730 - 11-21-2022

I placed this post on Facebook but I think it is more appropriate for MFGG.

What sort of game development tools do you use for developing your fan games? In particular...
What programming language do you code in?
What sort of development studio do you use?
Did you develop your own game engine or use someone else's? If so, what game engine do you use?

I use Visual C++, Microsoft STL, and Direct X. I know there is Unity, Unreal, and Construct out there. I am just wondering what other tools there are.

Historically, Game Maker 8.0 was the main thing I used, although I've used GM Studio 1.4 more lately. I still haven't made the jump to GM Studio 2 - I probably never will.

Maybe I'll finally try Unity someday.

I mostly use clickteam since I am too good and fit for game maker (or that I don't know how to work game maker at all).

Me, it's been the Clickteam products - both "The Games Factory" and also "The Games Factory 2" (without giving any details on one of my projects, I was forced to see about getting TGF2 to port said project to that environment since the original TGF environment had some... "issues" with it as I was progressing on the gameplay level engine for it; not sure if it's a memory handling issue or what).

I haven't made games in a while, though the last time I did, I was using Clickteam Fusion 2.5. Part of me wants to return to it someday if they ever release Clickteam Studio 3, but that's looking increasingly unlikely. The last time I used Fusion for anything was when I was conceptualizing a TCG and wanted a way to randomly generate stat numbers as a base and then I'd manually tweak them to fit each card.
