Do you use paper prototypes for your fangame? - Mariotroid - 12-26-2017

Hey everyone, just asking this question for clarification. Do you use paper prototpes for development of your fangame or other works? This is a question ive been wondering cause I've been reading a game design book, and it suggested paper prototyping throughout. So, what is your method? Yay or nay to paper prototypes?

I did that one time when working out a unique RPG mechanic and it helped me out quiet a bit.

A few days ago I designed, on paper, a very complicated title screen for my Fate game in case I ever continue it.

When I'm designing levels, often I'll make a rough sketch on paper to show the approximate relative positions of geographic features, enemies, and obstacles. This can be helpful.

Sometimes I'll sketch mockups of title screens and user interfaces, too.

No, but I draw crappy images on MS Paint with my mouse. I'm too lazy to get a pen and paper.

I don't need paper and pen. I have Notepad/Microsoft Word or in this case i use a program that lets me make a flow chart explaining the story in order, along with a database of your own that you can modify with your own story ideas.

I used to do this when designing levels for Gang Garrison 2 (if anyone has played that) because the levels were more time consuming to design in MSPaint.

For levels and characters for my SMRPG hacks, yes I have used paper prototypes, but not often. Using computers is much less time consuming.
