PM Notifications are broken? - Vitiman - 01-16-2024
I've apparently received several messages in the last... 3 or so years that I didn't have a single notification for in the user bar in the top right. I don't check this here forum much at all anymore, but I took a peek earlier and happened to see that Q-Nova was replying to me in a thread and made a mention of it - sure enough, they were completely piling up!
I know it's more of a ghost town around here than any of us would like to admit, but broken infrastructure probably isn't helping. Anyway, just thought I'd leave a helpful comment about it and hopefully someone can figure out what's up. Probably just a bug with the theme(s). If it helps, I'm using the Invision Board mimic theme, "MFGG Classic (2003-2008)". Don't know if this is happening for just this skin or multiple ones.

I'm using the classic ezboard skin (the red one), if that helps.
As soon as I logged in today, though, I got a PM notification, so I think it must've been fixed.

We're still looking into this. MyAlerts, our notifications system plugin, hasn't been updated in a bunch of years. It's conceivable that some part of the MyAlerts code isn't 100% compatible with a subsequent update to the MyBB software. I also can't rule out a template issue or even an oddity with tasks.
And yes, the MFGG forums are a bit sleepy these days! But at least we've made some progress since February, when we had four posts all month. Yes, all month. I think having competitions and events more frequently will help bring some more life here, and squashing annoying technical gremlins might help as well.
