Why do some users have gray names? - Q-Nova - 01-21-2024
I noticed that a few of this forum's users (like @hellvalleyskytrees) have gray names, even though they seem to be ordinary members. Is it supposed to be for some trail member status (all the users I've seen with gray names, so far, seem to have like less than 20 posts)? It just seems weird to me; I think this wasn't around until very recently (like a month ago or two). Was this caused by a MyBB upgrade?

It's an anti-spambot measure. New Members can do everything a regular member can do, except there are certain limitations on editing their posts. Once they make five posts, they'll automatically be promoted to regular member status.
The member in question is obviously not a spambot and needs to make just one more post to get upgraded.

@VinnyVideo Oh, gotcha! I remember reading about that, I don't know how on Earth I managed to forget about that.
Would it be possible to have a unique bar graphic (the one that's underneath our avatar) for New Members? I hope at least one person here knows how to make those member bars in the proper style.

@Gate Thanks! The New Member bar is uploaded now.
If you're wondering why some recently-registered members don't show as New Members, it seems a forum update briefly broke the promotion system. This should be fixed now. Also, a few members we had to activate manually got moved to regular member status.
If you're a New Member who wants to be able to edit posts normally or use the attachments system, just make five posts (or contact an admin).
