Super Trivia Bros.! - VinnyVideo - 07-08-2024 MFGG turns 23 years old on July 9! I've always thought it would be fun to do a trivia game to test your knowledge of all things MFGG - so why not do it right now! This trivia game includes 23 questions, one for each year of MFGG's existence. Whoever gets the best score wins a cool badge for their forum profile, but even if you don't win, everyone who participates is automatically awesome! I'm going to check all submissions manually - this way, you'll still get credit if you make a small typo or if you abbreviate an acronym or something. I reserve the right to award partial credit if an answer is "not quite right" - say, you get the series correct but not the right game. There's no penalty for guessing, so it's better to write an incorrect answer than to leave a question blank. The Questions Here's the full list of questions, in no particular order: 1. This is the site that Thunder Dragon created before he launched MFGG. (Hint: It's Bowser Technologies.) 2. This is the only fangame where you can battle a robot cowboy named Whipster. 3. In this fangame, you can pay a visit to the Home Hardware Kingdom. 4. This former MFGG admin is often associated with the number 3298. 5. This longtime MFGGer is traditionally represented by a Magikoopa, but his namesake is a Kremling. 6. A mysterious girl named Bella claims to be the rightful heir to the throne of the Mushroom Kingdom in this fangame. 7. This old fangame gives you a chance to rescue a former MFGG administrator's pet cat. 8. This spooky fangame was discussed on TV in 2005. 9. In 2016, the MFGG forums turned into this old Nickelodeon TV show. 10. In this fangame, you skip the epic showdown against the King of the Koopas when the game spontaneously says Mario beat Bowser. 11. He was the only MFGG administrator to hail from India. 12. The official Twitter account of this European nation once tagged MFGG in a tweet. 13. This early fangame's graphics use scans of hand-drawn pencil graphics. 14. This classic fangame includes multiple references to the band Nirvana. 15. You might meet American broadcast journalist Dan Rather in this zany game. 16. This game won an MFGG Super Competition. Now you can buy it on Steam. 17. This fangame is named after a hormone associated with proper sleep cycles in humans. 18. If your system can't use Google Forms for some reason, just copy and paste the questions, add your answers, and PM your response to me. Don't post your answers in this topic! Be sure to submit your questions by end of day (Eastern time) on July 15. Have fun! RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - Q-Nova - 07-09-2024 Sweet! A quiz! I know you like to do that stuff, VinnyVideo! ![]() I just sent in my answers! There's a lot of interesting questions here, with some deep cuts that aren't easily found through a Google search. A few of the questions had me stumped! Let's see how this goes! Also, do you plan on advertising this quiz on a main site update? I think that would be a good way to give it way more attention! RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - Friendly Dictator - 07-09-2024 sad i don't know the answers to more of these! great trivia vinny very weird to think that i've been on mfgg for more than half its life! and more than half my life! it's been 14 years since the split, no? do new people on here even know about the split? it was such a big deal at the time, i joined right around that time and it really felt like being in the aftermath of something. yet mfgg soldiers on. RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - SonicKade2048 - 07-09-2024 Happy birthday MFGG!!! the trivia is a bit of out my league given i'm a 2015 joiner, so good luck to everyone else who submits answers!! Here's to more MFGG in the future and more awesome fangames! ![]() RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - KrystalPhantasm - 07-10-2024 pretty much on the same boat as Kade about the trivia, but happy birthday MFGG!! the mainsite and its games hold a special place in my heart always for making me want to pursue gamedev as a hobby and creative outlet hehe ![]() cheers to the future ![]() RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - littlelum - 07-10-2024 MFGG is a cool place, 23 years is a long time for an independent community. It was probably the second major step in my educational journey. I never would've found this place if it wasn't for my obsession with Mario Kart Wii as a kid. I think I got about half the questions right. RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - Vert - 07-10-2024 I actually remember quite a few of these. I feel like an old fart ![]() RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - Q-Nova - 07-10-2024 Oh man! Looks like @Vitiman got everything right! I can't believe I forgot about Super MSNBC Bros. 2J! ![]() About the anniversary, it's really cool to see MFGG turn 23! I still remember discovering it back in 2012 and trying out Crazy Lakitu DX and Gravity Goomba, which were some of the newest games at the time. I think this place, along with the old YoYo Games Sandbox, really got me into game development. Looking back, I think I learned and evolved quite a lot! I also really enjoyed a lot of the fun stuff we did as a community, and playing so many cool games! Here's to another year of Mario fangame greatness! May MFGG live forever! RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - ~DodonArgustius~ - 07-10-2024 I haven't been around for very long, so I as well find the trivia a little out of my league. I still remember being so impressed with the fangames on here, especially ThunderDragon's awesome toad strikes back series. The time i've spent on MFGG in recent years has helped me grow, and the community is lovely. I hope that MFGG'll continue to be such a wonderful place for all kinds of people in the future. ![]() RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - VinnyVideo - 07-11-2024 @Q-Nova Yeah, I'd always wanted to do one of these! I tried my best to include a good number of MFGG personalities, games, and eras - and I tried my best to include some questions that Google won't be able to tell you! And yes, this quiz definitely needed a shoutout on the mainsite - and it got one! @Friendly Dictator Same here - I've been using MFGG for about half my life now! I wonder how much MFGG lore new people know about. @Vitiman I admit... Luigi's Excellent Cortisol Journey is my fave too. @SonicKade2048 You're always welcome to play along - it's totally OK if you don't know a lot of these! The quiz was designed to be fairly challenging. (Also, nine years is a pretty long time!) @littlelum MFGG and fangaming influenced the educational decisions I made, too! RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - OssieTheOstrich - 07-13-2024 just popping to say "Happy Birthday" to MFGG! quiz is kinda out of my league since I don't know most of that stuff RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - matrix - 07-14-2024 Happy Birthday MFGG, and since I am a newcomer so, honestly I don't know any of these questions RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - VinnyVideo - 07-16-2024 It's been a little over a week since MFGG's anniversary, so it's time to share the correct answers and announce the winner! First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who participated and helped celebrate MFGG's birthday! Q-Nova, MFGG's king of attention to detail, is our overall winner - he correctly answered 21 out of 23 questions! That's quite a remarkable achievement, especially considering the difficulty level of the quiz. Here's the full list of correct answers: 1. Bowser Technologies 2. Wario Destroys a Glass of Milk 3. Psycho Waluigi 4. Miles 5. Kritter 6. Princess Quest 7. Kittie Quest 8. Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX 9. All That 10. Paper Mario World 11. Char 12. Poland 13. Super Mario Sketch 14. Super Mario Epic 2: Dream Machine 15. Waligie Episodes 16. Annalynn 17. Super Mario Melatonin 18. Revenge of the Walrus 19. New Super Mario Kart 20. New and Tasty 21. MFGG 20th Anniversary Time Capsule 22. Super Charisma Bros. 23. Abducted Toad Finally, if anyone wants to make a prettier image for the badge, be my guest. RE: Super Trivia Bros.! - Q-Nova - 07-20-2024 Wow, I won!? Here, I thought @Vitiman would win! I knew I had at least 21 questions right, and Vitiman seemed like the only one whom I could see getting all questions right. The two questions I got wrong were #4 and #18. For #4 I guessed DustinVG because I had no clue on who could it be, even after searching through the wiki and forums. I didn't even find the number Miles is associated with, although he probably would've been my second or third guess. Funnily enough, I watched the preview video for Dustin's Ancient Keys DX today, and saw a comment by Miles with that number in his username! For #18 I guessed Cheerwine Deluxe 3, because it sounded like a joke game, and a vuvuzela seemed like something only VinnyVideo would know about. Looks like I got the creator right, at least! As I admitted earlier, I dug through the wiki, forums, and non-MFGG parts of the Internet to find some answers, although I correctly answered 16 of the questions out of the top of my head (I looked up some of such just to verify, though). There were a few other questions that I didn't really know, but was able to make a correct initial guess in my mind (e.g. I haven't played Wario Destroys a Glass of Milk nor Princess Quest, but figured they'd be the answers to their respective questions). The one question that I couldn't believe I got stumped by, is #23. I initially guessed Mariovania, as that was the only fangame I could remember having a bestiary. When I looked up the question on DuckDuckGo, I was totally confounded by how forgetful I was! I was half-expecting the winner to receive an Event Winner badge (purple circle with lightning inside) for this. I don't know, on one hand the unique badge makes this quiz more memorable, but on the other hand, I feel like one-time badges (that aren't the awards type, or something major like the CFP) are clogging up the profiles. Well, I'm assuming this is a one-time event; do you plan on doing another quiz in the future? The quiz was pretty fun, and I think there's enough more questions to fill up another quiz! (I considered setting up an unofficial quiz just for fun, with maybe a coin prize, but I'm not sure if those questions should be saved for the real deal.) As for the badge image, have you considered using one of the Super Luigi books from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door? The L might have to be edited out, though, and maybe replaced with something else. |
