ROMhacking.net Has Closed - littlelum - 08-02-2024

It has been announced that the 19 year old ROM hacking website will no longer be accepting submissions. For those who don't know, ROMhacking.net has been considered THE website for mods and translation patches for retro games, along with being a central repository for various knowledge and tools. I'm sad to see it go, as I've relied on its database for as long as have been on the internet.

The forums are still operational, and the existing stuff can still be accessed, but its still a shame that one of the pillars of the gaming internet has collapsed due to Discord drama.

Yeah, that was a bummer to hear. That site has a lot of great resources and is still really active.

From what I could gather, it also sounded like the site has aging infrastructure and problems with bots. That part sounds a bit like MFGG - though fortunately, we're not going away!

Just logged in after a few months ago, surprised to see the site go.
