MFGG Goes To Nintendo - DJ Coco - 09-23-2024
Me, @Vert and @Mors have been to Japan in what is possibly the biggest MFGG meetup to this date, if I'm not mistaken.
We didn't even realize our hotel in Kyoto was surprisingly close to the Nintendo HQ, but when we saw the sign in the distance we couldn't resist to take a look.

We were really surprised when Miyamoto came out and noticed us, complimenting us on our good work on Super Mario Flashback and Paper Mario 3D Land.
Okay, that last part didn't really happen...

I visited back in March when my wife and I visited Kyoto (it's a stone's throw away from Jonan-gu Shrine and Mt. Inari). The gate to the compound was open and it was tempting to go inside and get pictures, but the guard was practically glaring at all passers-by

if you told me 10 years ago that in a decade id be sitting in a ramen place in osaka, passionately discussing years old mfgg drama with dj coco in person id say "what"
also the last part really did happen, i told miyamoto about mfgg and he said "ill talk to our lawyers" hes so sweet, hes sharing how cool mfgg is with his lawyer friends

Nice. I always assumed Nintendo of Japan would have a more exciting-looking office, though!
I work with someone who just returned from a trip to Japan. She gave me a Japanese strawberry KitKat, which was yummy. (That wasn't quite as cool as actually being in Japan, though.)
Someone needs to make a fangame about this.

It's a very nondescript building in the middle of a Kyoto suburb. I think the most remarkable thing about it *is* the fact that it's the house of Mario. I remember there being a bunch of houses around the building, some of which were traditional Japanese style, and we could hear some workers playing tennis on the court inside the compound.

Oh yeah, there are quite a few nice houses around Nintendo's office. It's actually kind of surreal, there aren't that many office buildings in the neighborhood so it really stands out.

there's a second nintendo building close by also. we saw it while in the train (or metro idk) so i couldn't tell much but it's a very similar looking building a bit further away from our hotel
forgot to look up what the deal with it was but im sure the one we walked up to is the main one
