Is anyone here experienced with 3D Modelling/CGI Animation - Great Destination Tracks 3 - 12-18-2024

The world of computer graphics is very interesting to me, be it animation, product visualization, video games, or even 3D printing. I enjoy exploring the exciting new developments of CGI, or take a trip down memory lane to see what CGI used to be in it's earliest form.

Since 2021 I've been getting into 3D Modelling by learning Blender, and making cool stuff in the software, mostly for the purposes of making animations and cartoons, I consider myself a rookie when it comes to this field.

With that said probably, does anyone else here do a lot of 3D/CGI works probably? and how much experience do you guys have probably?

I started going through the donut tutorial a few days ago. Last night I modeled the icing. I want to eventually be able to make something that could be used in a N64 ROM hack or something.

I've toyed with Blender in the past, though I haven't done much with it. It might be fun to use it more though.

I've done modelling of static environmental assets and props, but I have never done characters, rigging or animating.

Did the same about a year ago for the exact same reason but I didn't finish the donut because I forgot about it. I really should get back into moddelung when I have the time. I do want to learn it.

I've never really done any modelling nor CGI animation. Though, I've been watching some Mario Artist videos lately. For context in case anyone doesn't know, the Mario Artist series was like a successor to Mario Paint and came out on the Nintendo 64DD. Four games (or software) came out, one of which is Polygon Studio, which lets you do modelling. Not only was I blown away by how the Nintendo 64 is capable of running a 3D modelling software (the 64DD did not provide extra power but rather extra data to save I believe), but also by how easy the modelling seemed! It almost made want to give that sort of stuff a go someday. There's also other things in the game that made my jaw fall, but they're not exactly 3D modelling so to say. Wink Here's a video that shows Polygon Studio in action:

Another game in the series is Talent Studio, which not only has a character creator (somewhat similar to the later Miis) but also a CGI animation thing that lets you make movies. Here's one of the samples included:

I feel like most (if not everyone) in this community don't know what's in these games, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to share them! I didn't know much about this series until recently, and man, I didn't think it would be this mind blowing!

Give it up to Nintendo to trick kids and customers to make games for them by selling you the tools to it as video games ! Laughing

In all seriousness that's really cool, love it when Nintendo does those types of creative games ! I've heard the name Mario Artist before I didn't know there was a 3D modelling sotware in it !
