Looking for an old Mario fangame - TheGreatestRoman - 04-19-2025

Hello everyone! Recently, I've been looking all over the internet for a Mario fangame I remember playing as a child, but have lost since. However, there seems to be no mention of it anywhere for some reason (I assume it was just not really played). I don't think it was ever posted to this site, but hopefully some users that are well versed in the world of Mario fangames can help me find it regardless. Here's what I remember about the game.

- I downloaded the game around 2013-2014. It was probably made in those years or a few years earlier. The quality wasn't all that great, though.
- The game was featured on softendo.com at some point, well, I think that's where I got it from? (it's not at all in the archives though, neither wayback nor their own)
- The title was "Mario Sunshine", "Sunshine Mario", or something simplistic along those lines. "Sunshine" was part of it for sure. (maybe "3D" was there?)
- It was a 3D platformer with a bird's eye view, and some very basic platforming. I believe it had FLUDD too (hence the Sunshine bit)
- [100% sure about this] The music playing in the background (for the first level at the very least) was "The Air" from the Sonic Adventure OST, which plays in Windy Valley after the tornado section, in Sonic's and Tails' level.
- It used a "modern" official Mario model (from either 3D Land or 3D World, if I had to guess). Don't remember anything else about the graphics, unfortunately.

Does anyone remember anything similar to what I'm describing here? If so, please respond! Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance! (Also, if you have any better idea of what forum I should be asking about this on, do tell.)

God!! I remember this fangame!!! i remember getting it as a "pseudo-virus" on the family computer trying to get a Mario Sunshine ROM, i remember the level design being similar to a game called Bug one the Sega Saturn, very thin, blocky level design. Im so glad someone else knows of it, ill see if i can find a link to atleast a screenshot of the game. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!

So it wasn't just a fever dream, good to know :p Yep, the blocky level design definitely rings a bell! You're welcome, hope you find something while looking! (also this game looks cool)

Hmm... I played a "Super Mario Sunshine 64 Pre-Alpha" in 2013. I didn't save it on my personal hard drive, though, and I can't find it anywhere on MFGG.

There was also a Super Mario Sunshine 2D around the same time. It's on the mainsite, but it's a very different 2-D game.

Sunshine 64 is probably Runouw's game, and Sunshine 2D I believe I've also played at some point, but no, it was neither of those. It was definitely 3D. Thanks for trying, either way!

I think I've found it!! It's apparently already up on this site and is ACTUALLY called Super Mario Legacy: https://mfgg.net/index.php?act=resdb&param=02&c=2&id=13153

The music 100% checks out, and some of the layout in the first level rings a bell as well. It was either this game, or somehow modded by Softendo, hence the different title.

Thanks to the few of you sticking around!
