The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-08-2025 Some of you might have heard me complaining about MyBB's lack of updates in recent months. Well, MyBB finally released an update for the first time in over a year! It's no MyBB 2.0, but it is a big update that touches a lot of different files. Seems this update fixed a couple of issues with plugins, which means I was able to re-enable a plugin that makes username colors consistent. Forum updates can break things, of course, so speak up if anything's not working as expected. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - Sean - 06-09-2025 When I 1-up this post, the cursor stays "Busy" indefinitely. Is there a problem with the ajax plugin? Edit: also infinite spinner when posting, so I think the ajax plugin is broken. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - DogToon64 - 06-10-2025 Whenever I view my forum profile or preview my post, the page displays warnings at the top. The text box for making a new post or reply also seems to be broken. Also, not sure if this one matters, but I noticed that the coin counter seemed to stop working. EDIT: So, it seems that the text box issue somehow fixed itself (not sure if that was an issue on my end or not). However, the top of the page still displays warnings when I preview my post after typing something in the text box. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-12-2025 @DogToon64 Thanks for the note about PHP warnings on the post preview. Those *should* be fixed now. The WYSIWYG post editor should be fixed now, too. That broke after the MyBB upgrade. The coins system is disabled for now - I can see if I can get it working in PHP 8.2 if people want it. @Sean I disabled the main Ajax plugin because it hasn't been updated in 2014. Some plugins, like the Thank You/Like plugin, use a different implementation of Ajax. I'm still trying to figure out why that's being finicky. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-13-2025 The 1-Up button should now be working without having to refresh the page! I just had to deactivate and reactivate the Thank You/Like plugin. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - Mariofan230 - 06-14-2025 Suddenly I'm back and logged in after seeing this! I want to confirm the 1-UP button finally shows up again after about three years of not seeing it. The only thing that still isn't working on my end is the top bar buttons and nonfiction bell. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-14-2025 @Mariofan230 Welcome back! Were you logged in to your forum account in the past? The 1-Up button should be visible only to logged-in users. What problems are you having with the notification buttons? RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - Mariofan230 - 06-14-2025 The 1-UP button would hide even when I logged in, so this is when I found out it would appear again. The nonfiction button, other neighboring buttons on the top right side of the screen haven't appeared in a while. I can see User CP, New Posts, Today's Posts and Mark All Posts Read below the missing buttons. The "Welcome back", "You last visited" and profile picture are visible but the red border (default skin) overlaps these three things. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-14-2025 @Mariofan230 Are you on a mobile device? If I'm understanding you correctly, the buttons you're talking about are hidden on the mobile view. Of course, the current mobile experience might not be ideal - there could be room for improvement there. Coolio ![]() RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - DogToon64 - 06-18-2025 Just found out that the My Alerts and Help pages display warnings at the top of the page. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - VinnyVideo - 06-19-2025 @DogToon64 Oh yeah, looks like it. I'm looking into those. Specifically, My Alerts produces a PHP warning if you have an unread alert and you click on a topic pertaining to that unread alert. @Sean Seems that uninstalling the Rin Editor plugin (a WYSIWYG post editor) fixes the issue with the 500 error and infinite spinning after making a post with Quick Reply. Unless someone absolutely adores this editor, I'm planning to keep this plugin deactivated until someone finds a fix for Rin Editor or we replace it with a different WYSIWYG plugin. I think it's a higher priority to have posts refresh properly than to have a WYSIWYG post editor. RE: The forums are now on MyBB 1.8.39 - DogToon64 - 06-20-2025 @VinnyVideo Test reply |
