Legacy Staff Badge - VinnyVideo - 01-24-2026 Every once in a while we talk about making a badge for retired staff members. We've never made one, though. Maybe we should. Or maybe we have enough badges already. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - WasabiCatto - 01-24-2026 Didnt we already had one? RE: Legacy Staff Badge - DJ Coco - 01-24-2026 Hmm. Not sure about this one. I think it'd only be worth handing out if the staff member had done a lot for MFGG, and we kind of already have the Big Help badge for that. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - littlelum - 01-24-2026 If badges don't work out, there could also be a "retired" user role, similar to "event leader" or "dairy" or "good at french". All the permissions of a normal user, but something to make it stand out. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - NowhereMan - 01-24-2026 I have a couple badges from the old old boards that have not, may never get transferred. I don't know what they are exactly, maybe a happy heart badge and a top 5 drawing competition or something or another. I am going to post that here since we are on the topic of badges. Do I need to PM someone about it? I am not too concerned about it, though. Happy Heart badges were deprecated RE: Legacy Staff Badge - VinnyVideo - 01-25-2026 @NowhereMan Happy Heart badges aren't used on the MyBB boards, but you should have your Drawing Comp Top Five badge now. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - Hyper - 01-26-2026 I personally don't need another one. But it's up to y'all RE: Legacy Staff Badge - NowhereMan - 01-29-2026 Well, I am just curious, what was the happy and super happy heart badge given for anyway? Like the legit actual reason, I don't remember actually why I received it. I would like to think that in the 2000s days that I would implement or try to get as many badges as I could, but I didn't do that. I would also like to think that I would enter more competitions, but I only entered a few. Whatever competition it is, I am much more proactive in producing a quality piece now than I was before, maybe not top (as far as members go) but atleast better than I was when I was 13. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - VinnyVideo - 01-29-2026 @NowhereMan Before the MyBB era, you could get a Happy Heart badge if you reached a certain minimum post count and went a while without getting banned (in the IPB era) or receiving an official board warning (in the phpBB era). There were also Super and Ultra Happy Heart badges. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - NowhereMan - 01-29-2026 Was there a Post Count Number on the 3rd boards? I couldnt tell you why I didnt join the phpBB boards, probably because I was a lot more out and about with friends and stuff, but I kind of remember the boards shifting from like the random fun posts, forum games, online stuff to strictly fangames. Speaking of like the "activity" on the boards, if it were more active, I would have a lot more to talk about than the past, which is what I am trying to get this all caught up to the current, as far as MFGG stuff, not to be a "Back in my day" kind of man. But I do remember the post counts were a lot of fun as far as member activity. Some of the members had a HUGE post count, which was in the double digit thousands. Do you think taking away the post counter, maybe diminished user activity at all? Like when I play XBOX and I do "other" stuff that I wouldnt normally do, or play more just get a simple achievement or something. Its kind of the same. I am not asking for the post counter back, but I believe it did help as far as being "active" was. I don't necessarily think it will actually *help* bring all the members back in this time period, but I do think it made more incentive to post and be active in the forums. It seems to me, people want to somehow "modernized" MFGG in ways, which I will maybe go into detail later, but I am not exactly sure what "modern" MFGG is. But like I said, I will go over some of that later. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - VinnyVideo - 01-30-2026 @NowhereMan The IPB forums were the most active iteration of the forums, running from 2003 to 2009. The phpBB boards became more fangame-centric, especially during Black Squirrel's tenure. Post counts are still visible if you click on a member's profile or the list of members. At one point, post counts were much more prominent, appearing next to every post. Displaying post counts might have added an element of "gamification" that encouraged others to be more active. However, it sometimes led to "post count-ism" elitism or members making low-quality posts just to boost their post counts. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - NowhereMan - 01-31-2026 Right, speaking of making posts, I had to edit that last post because of the confusion on which boards were what. You all are writing so elegantly and delicately, I am afraid this will be standard now... AHHHHHH!!!!! lol But yeah, I know there are post counts in the profiles, I meant next to the avatar and badges and what not. I don't think it is going to make any difference today. And speaking of being fangame-oriented, that is pretty much the reason I came back, was I was making python applications, some games, and wanted to get into actual gamemaking, and come back to my roots; which is MFGG. Although, I had so much fun on the forums on the IPB boards that I decided to maybe try to play some forum games, make a couple forum jokes, harmless pranks like back on those days. Hitler on Ice!!!! Who knows what kind of shenanigans I would get into if all those users were present again. Also, being without discord for the time being, makes the boards slightly outdated..... Which brings me to a new topic.......... RE: Legacy Staff Badge - VinnyVideo - 01-31-2026 Ha, no worries! The first iteration of the phpBB boards (the ones that ran from November 2009 to November 2010) included post counts next to each post (source), but the later phpBB boards (November 2010 to November 2017) did not. RE: Legacy Staff Badge - NowhereMan - 01-31-2026 Also thanks for the badge, Vinny. I already told him that in PM, not to look like an a**h*le
