Post Wiki Edits on Discord - littlelum - 07-20-2026 It's been discussed a bit on posting edits to the wiki on the Discord, similar to how new forum threads are handled. I'm making a thread here for better documentation of the discussion. It shouldn't be difficult. One of the bots that is already on the Discord, Tatsu, has the ability to read RSS/Atom feeds. The wiki already has a feed that is generated whenever edits are made. The feed is even already formatted to look nice. All that needs to be done is configure Tatsu to read the feed and post the updates. This could potentially increase interest in the wiki, as new edits will be more public, instead of hidden behind the recent changes page, which I assume not very many people check regularly. RE: Post Wiki Edits on Discord - Fun With Despair - 07-21-2026 I was under the understanding that the Wiki was largely intentionally no longer being used to a great extent due to the vast amount of old user and drama information currently held on there without the consent of those users. This was a long time ago that these conversations were being held mind you, but there was a level of concern among some users particularly with the rise of "lolcow" content. Ultimately I think having *a* wiki is a good thing for tutorials, information, etc. relating to the purpose of the site but I don't really know how I feel about a public list of wiki edits that might expose people wanting to remove their information from the page, or even how I feel about the continued usage of this particular wiki at all. RE: Post Wiki Edits on Discord - VinnyVideo - 07-21-2026 Could be a handy feature! I'm not sure what all goes into creating a bot that syncs a MediaWiki Recent Changes page to a Discord channel, but I don't think it would be extremely difficult. |
