Mario's Sticker Stage - Zero Kirby - 01-30-2018

Wahey I might as well make a dev topic for this, since it's actually progressing, which means a week from now I'll stop working on it for another year

But yes! It's Mario's Sticker Stage!

(Thanks to CamTro for the cool logo)

Mario's Sticker Stage is an arcade-style experience. It takes parts from several Paper Mario battle systems and mixes them together to create a fun new experience. Fight wave after wave of enemies using your wits and resources, all the while making sure you're keeping the ever-present audience happy!

Choose from a variety of Stickers to fight with! You don't have to pick them up in the overworld or find them or anything like that - in this game, you buy them straight during combat using coins you've earned by defeating enemies and impressing your fans! You can upgrade them between rounds, and even upgrade your health, or the number of slots you can fill with Stickers! How do you get upgrades? The audience! Impressing them gets you Star Points, and Star Points can be spent to get upgrades!

You gotta strategize, yo! If you waste Stickers, you're wasting money! Each slot targets an enemy further down the line, so picking your Stickers based on who they're hitting is also important! But making it harder is the fact that you're on the clock. You've only got five minutes to see how many rounds of baddies you can beat up!

So I'm sure you're thinking, "Well that sounds neat, but if I wind up listening to the same music track over and over again while I'm playing I will throw my controller through the screen, I kid you not!" Well despair not, hypothetically-violent-person! For the game comes with a neato My Music feature ripped off from inspired by the one used in Super Smash Bros.! With over forty different tracks, you can pick and choose which ones you want to hear, and how often to hear them!

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - FieryExplosion - 01-30-2018

I swear, every time I see this game it's like completely different.

But hey, I like the progress that's been made! Hopefully you'll get some more stuff done within the next week (before you sink right back into hibernation).

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - TheOrangeToad - 01-31-2018

I like this fangames so much because of the graphics.

I hope Zero kirby could make a early build or a demo

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - VinnyVideo - 01-31-2018

Vinny insists that you not let this go into hibernation this time!

Also, the music test is a nice addition.

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - Mariotroid - 02-01-2018

Seems really cool - I'm developing an RPG battle system for my "big" project at the time too.

I like that you have a nice system going on with the game's battle system.

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - Zero Kirby - 02-02-2018

Okay so I'm tempted to update the graphics to use the more recent 3DS versions of the Mario and Luigi sprites. Still edited to have flat colours and outlines, naturally, they're just... bigger, and look nicer, and have more variation in their animations.

Like, I really can't find a very good sideways hammer swipe for the Slaphammer sticker in any of the previous styles, whereas Dream Team has the Bomb Rally Bros. Move which has Mario doing it and lookin' really awesome as he does it.

If I go this route, though, I'll have to change a few things. Most definitely the screen layout at the very least, since the bigger sprites will need a bit more room to breathe.

This'll set me back a bit if I go this route, but I'm letting you guys know where I'm sitting since, well. Yeah.

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - Mariotroid - 02-03-2018

I'd say go with it. The new sprites are sooo appealing.

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - Zero Kirby - 02-05-2018

So I found a nice middle ground

Now I just have to adjust everything to a larger screen size. On the extra bright side though, that screen size is actually a normal 16:9 screen size instead of the weird 544x306 I had going on earlier.

(If the GIF seems kinda slow that's because it is. Normal gameplay is a bit faster than that.)

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - GamerInGeorgia - 02-06-2018

Looks great!

RE: Mario's Sticker Stage - FieryExplosion - 02-07-2018

Swapping to Dream Team's sprites, huh? Well, that's fine with me!

Really love the way this is going. Keep it up!
