What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - PixelatedIvan - 02-18-2018 ![]() I spent the last 3 weeks working on the engine for this project. But now, I do not feel like making this to an actual game. Should I just continue this anyways, work on the engine a bit more, or just say this was just a learning exercise. :| RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - darkblueyoshi - 02-18-2018 You can also take a break or give it to someone else. RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - PixelatedIvan - 02-18-2018 I mean, I wouldn't just give the project to somebody without knowing who that person is lol RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - YoshisIsland3 - 02-18-2018 I think you should keep working on it if you want to, you already got a substantial amount of progress done that most people wouldn't go through. All it needs is more polish and finishing touches, and it'll look like a nice Captain Toad game or whatever you are going for. RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - Action Lemon - 02-18-2018 Do you need motivation? I don't know about anybody else, but I want to see this game get made. It looks pretty interesting. RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - Evil Yoshi Toes - 02-18-2018 That's a shame, it's looking pretty cool! If you're just tired of looking at it maybe you should take a break and come back to it. RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - VinnyVideo - 02-19-2018 If you're finishing a game "just to get it over with," your work might not be as inspiring as it would be if you were really motivated, so if that's the case, it might be better to take a break and resume it later. However, if you have ideas for levels, enemies, and gimmicks to add to the engine, I say finish it! See if you can make 5-10 creative, well-designed levels with it. Especially if you're new to game development, fangame projects often work best when they're short and sweet. Sharing the source code is also an option - good, well-documented open-source engines are always nice. RE: What should I do with this fangame I do not feel like finishing - HylianDev - 02-19-2018 Is this a Captain Toad platformer, where you still can't jump yourself but there are blocks that make you jump and etc? If that's the case, this is a really cool idea. I recommend finishing it, but a break might be a good idea. |
