Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - Evil Yoshi Toes - 03-14-2018 How many of you have seen this? It's really weird, but I actually enjoyed it. I especially liked that after credits scene with the old woman in the shop. What was the point of that?
This is the English dub by the way. I think you can find the Japanese version with subtitles on Youtube as well.
RE: Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - Action Lemon - 03-14-2018 I really enjoyed the movie. It was cheesy and fun to watch with my siblings. Definitely recommend it to any Mario fan who has a taste for movies that are so bad that they are good. RE: Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - GamerInGeorgia - 03-14-2018 Yes. I've seen this before. It has some nice lines like: "Hey wait a minute, I thought I was Italian!" Overall, it's a great representation of Super Mario Bros., even though Luigi's coloring is off from what we're used to, but that doesn't ruin the great experience the anime provides. Other than the fact that Princess Toadstool already has a fiance in the anime (I hated that part), the other "big differences" (i.e. the power-ups not being used up, or Mario and Luigi having ulterior motives for being the Mushroom Kingdom, or the old man who greets them in the beginning of the anime) don't ruin the anime. I would recommend this to all who haven't seen it yet. RE: Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - Evil Yoshi Toes - 03-14-2018 Yeah, the prince kind of came out of nowhere but that's why I liked him. Peach ending up with the dog instead of Mario, despite calling Mario her dream man and saying she wants to marry him, was pretty hilarious to me. The pacing and pretty much everything else about this movie was pretty bad, but that's what makes it so fun to watch. It's entertaining seeing Mario and co. in such weird, senseless scenarios. One thing they did do pretty well was make Mario interesting enough of a character. I suppose Mario's everyman type personality wasn't quite as set in stone at this time though, so such interpretations of his character could be made. @GamerInGeorgia Just curious, are you being sarcastic or did you actually think it was good? Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just not a movie most people would consider to be good aside from in the "so bad it's good" way. (03-14-2018, 05:03 PM)Action Lemon Wrote: IDK. Probably some stupid slapstick joke. Well I suppose the joke worked, just not in the way it was intended to. Her expression and her "aahh" (at least in the english dub) were so awkward it made me and my younger sister laugh a lot. It was a wonderful unexpected treat. RE: Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - VinnyVideo - 03-15-2018 I haven't. It sounds fun, though. RE: Has Anyone Seen the Mario Anime? - GamerInGeorgia - 03-15-2018 @Evil Yoshi Toes - I actually think that it's good. I guess I did sound a little sarcastic. About the old lady scene, though, I think it's just a way of saying that even though Mario and Luigi went back to their world, things aren't the same as they used to be, as Bowser is behind the counter and not Princess Toadstool or someone else. |
