Friend Shaped Engine (GMS): Beta release - Renhoek - 03-27-2018

After a year of development I'm finally ready to release the first beta release for Friend Shaped Engine

FSE goal is  to emulate the gameplay from the Kirby series using Kirby's adventure as a base, while also adding new features such as the bomb ability, and the ability to use powers differently on input, (for example aiming the cutter ability)
Be warned this engine's incomplete, if you want to see further development I have a discord channel for the engine here

I wouldn't recommend using this is you're a novice programmer as a large amount of code is uncommented, I'll try to have the engine fully documented by the final release.

Warning: this is a beta release of the engine, this means it is incomplete and bugs will show up.

While this engine is based on Kirby's Adventure, I have aimed to try and make it a more general kirby engine,
some of these changes include new abilities such as Bomb, multiple ways to use abilities such as aiming cutter,
and changing the water spray attack to be the small bubble attack from more recent games.

A lot of element such as enemies and example levels are incomplete, and a lot of the code is uncommented, I plan
on finishing all of these in the next release.

while I doubt this'll gain much attention, just to be safe I ask that this engine not be publicized much to
avoid confusing this with an official product.

This is a very impressive project. It's nice to see a good Kirby engine.

I noticed one problem with the Stone power, however. When Kirby is falling in stone form, the camera doesn't move quickly enough to keep up with him.

Oh, this is simply divine! I'm not a Game Maker person much, but I have GMS1 so I'll definitely have to try this out!

Hi there, I tested your engine and found some issues:

1-Kirby shoud stop advancing(deccelerate) when throwing bummerangs, sucking,spiking and pretty much every action with the exeption of abilities like the sword and maybe some others.
2-Most actions need to wait for kirby to finnish his animations, as it is now you can easily cancel out of everything, the spike ability becomes as good as the lolipop if used well.
3-After an action kirby should stop running.
4-The boomerang ability only allows 3 boomerangs at a time.
5-(In this engine)the rock ability makes kirby fly when mashing the action button.

Good luck with the project and thanks, kirby doesn't get enough love when it comes to fangames.
