NES classic edition July monthly mayhem - Honey Saucer Gengar - 05-24-2018

How about an NES classic edition, July monthly mayhem, because it gets re-released June 29th.

Possible games are:
Dr Mario
SMB3
SMB1
SMB2
DKJR
DK
LOZ
Punch Out

I'm sorry but... what?

These aren't online multiplayer (some aren't even multiplayer at all) for one.

For two, we aren't hosting an event that would require us to suggest you download illegal roms so that you can use netplay.

For three, I have no idea what the NES classic has to do with any part of this suggestion but you should know it doesn't do online multiplayer either.

Oh oops!

But VinnyVideo's Ultimate Pointless Quiz Showdown wasn't multiplayer, and he awarded people with coins and badges.

RE: NES classic edition July monthly mayhem - VinnyVideo - 05-24-2018

My Ultimate Pointless Quiz Showdown didn't support simultaneous multiplayer, but it did include an easy way to record high scores. Also, it wasn't a Monthly Mayhem event - I just awarded the top scorers with coins.

With most of the games on this list, I don't know how you'd attempt to measure high scores. For example, SMB2 doesn't even keep track of your score, and it doesn't have any way for more than one player to play at the same time.

It should also be noted that emulator netplay is often very difficult to get right - depending on the system, you have to jump through a lot of hoops just to get a few players to connect. So yeah, there's a bunch of reasons why that isn't ideal for a Monthly Mayhem event.

Oh so then this is a no-go

What should June's Monthly Mayhem be?

RE: NES classic edition July monthly mayhem - VinnyVideo - 05-24-2018

@gengarmaster Panel Attack (a freeware Tetris Attack clone) could be fun.

I also thought about Terraria. Terraria costs $10, but a lot of MFGGers have it, and it's a lot of fun for multiplayer co-op. Plus, it's a prominent indie game made by an MFGG member.

Panel Attack sounds good!
