Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - Q-Nova - 05-26-2018 So, for quite a long time, I was wondering what would it be like if games on MFGG had advertisements on games by other people in this site and even MFGG itself in some way (such as in the README file or in-game somewhere). I have even thought about implementing this stuff into my games. I think doing this stuff could help give others' games attention, possibly expose some people to MFGG, and would be a way to show appreciation for creations made by others. I've seen one community do this for their creations, so I don't really see any harm in showing games made by other people. What do you guys think about this? RE: Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - VinnyVideo - 05-26-2018 This is a cool idea! I've been working on an indie RPG, and I've thought of asking a few MFGGers if they wanted me to hide a poster advertising their games in one of the rooms. If it's not in the rules, would it be legal or not? Submission Rules Wrote:All Games must be playable. Any external files required to run the game must be included in its download, with the exception of files listed under the Miscellaneous category of the Downloads section and commonly-used external libraries (such as DirectX or the XNA Framework). There must be some tangible form of gameplay in Games, as opposed to a disorganized mass of objects. RE: Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - VinnyVideo - 05-27-2018 @SMBXFan Why would it be against the rules? The rules say nothing about this sort of thing. As long as you're not doing it with the intent to troll or annoy someone, it would be OK. It might be a good idea to ask the other game's creator before you did this, though. RE: Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - Mariotroid - 05-27-2018 @VinnyVideo If it' an indie game veo g produced for money, wouldn' it be illegal to advertise fangames? RE: Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - VinnyVideo - 05-28-2018 @Mariotroid That might not be the best idea, although I can't say for sure that would be illegal. This is slightly different, but Redigit made Terraria after making Super Mario Bros. X, and Terraria includes several obvious references to SMB X. Actually Redigit said that is not related to SMBX in any way, but does references stuff from the series, SMBX is based on, such as Mario or the Fire Flower. RE: Advertising others' fangames and MFGG - VinnyVideo - 05-28-2018 @YoshisIsland3 There's also this. |
