Removing Your Forum Comments. - OssieTheOstrich - 06-04-2018

If you make a double post/a post of something you didn't mean to post, there is no way to delete it unless you report it to the staff, and that's pretty annoying.
I would say it will great if you could add a delete post button.

Double posting just adds the post to your earlier post so manually delete it with the edit button.

Otherwise, in the case of duplicate threads or something, just ask a mod to delete it. We don't want people abusing the delete post button.

I agree it'd be a good idea to allow members to delete their own posts. I believe MyBB has a pretty solid failsafe option for this too, where staff can see 'deleted' posts and restore them if needed.

Members shouldn't be able to permanently delete their own posts - such a feature could easily be abused.

Letting members soft-delete their own posts shouldn't be a problem, though. Soft deletion means posts are hidden from public view but can still be viewed or restored by forum staff if necessary.

There should also be a rule where it can only be deleted if it's the most recent post on the thread

If we do allow soft deletion, maybe make a rule that you can't use it in place of the edit button like I've seen a user do elsewhere.

I've seen the soft deletion tool so abused that it makes threads harder to read for moderators. New, genuine replies pushed off the thread page for multiple deleted posts from one user.
