I'm going to voice an unpopular opinion and say keep the wiki as-is. Give it some TLC, maybe a face-lift, but preserve the existing content. Update the tagging and navigation to prioritize more relevant material. If there's no willingness to improve the existing wiki, I doubt you'll find willingness to maintain a new one, after the brief shiny wears off. If vandalism is a problem on the existing wiki, it's not going to be any different on a new wiki.

This community, for its various problems, had a very vibrant and colorful past that is missing from the current community. The off-topic content is both a window into the community's past, but also a window into broader community culture of the past couple decades. In terms of fangaming, there's a lot of interesting history in the evolution of game engines, ideas, software, even if they don't have productive relevance today. There are people, even outside of the MFGG oldbies, who may find this history valuable or useful, even if most current members don't really care.

I would say that at minimum the old one needs to be kept as an archive, but it's not actually a choice. We keep backups of this stuff and it's not going to be sent into a black hole.

I am interested to hear the other three voters' reasoning as to why we should keep the wiki as-is as well because we haven't heard a lot from them so far. Good post.
I'm on the MarioBoards, Minus World, and the Bell Tree Forums as rollerC if you wanna check me out.
