This is a joke but it's almost not. My graduate research was in compressing memory allocators. In theory, run your system or program with a drop-in memory allocator that you downloaded, and it's almost like you magically have more RAM.

My research didn't really go anywhere but that type of tech exists in OSes and specialized systems today.
