I believe most of us would agree that it's uncool to share spoilers of major in-game events for video games (or movies, TV shows, books, or whatnot) that have recently come out. If you're looking forward to playing a game (or in the middle of playing one), knowing about that big plot twist might take away some of the fun.

But what about spoilers for older games - say, games that were released more than a year or two ago? On one hand, if you were very interested in playing that game, there's a strong chance you would've played it by now.

On the other hand, there's lots of older games I haven't played but still might want to play someday, and I might not want an unsolicited spoiler shoved in my face. (And if you're a kid, lots of great games were released before you were even born!)

Personally, for places like forums and Discord, I still use spoiler tags or spoiler warnings when discussing spoilers for older games, just in case. I also try to avoid posting spoiler-y things on Twitter or other social media, where it's hard to hide or mark spoilers.

How do y'all feel about this?

I just throw up a spoiler warning for any game that has come out in the last 5-10 years or so. I figure after that it's free game.
