Is this a good idea for a first game?

I've been think about making a game in which you're... Eggplant man, and Foreman Spike has stolen your... rice ball (only because, welll, there was that rice ball in WC 98?). I think the gameplay would be similar to WC, except with linear levels where you break walls to progress (maybe some of them would require a power-up?).


I'm not precisely a super fan of the WC games, and (I know no ship about rice balls or japanese stuff lol). I was thinking about doing something like this just to not make a hello clone, really (because I remember TD suggesting someone else to make something different as a first game too here, recently).


Does it sound too stupid, or too complicated/ambitious for a first game?

I like the story. It sounds weird but I like that about it. I don't know what WC is so gameplay wise i dont know how ambitious this is, but a first game can be really weird and still be simple in terms of programming.

WC means Wrecking Crew (NES)

Sounds like a solid plan! We haven't had a lot of Wrecking Crew fangames on MFGG, so this would be a nice change of pace. Wrecking Crew's mechanics are simpler than most platformers, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make a WC fangame.
