Do you receive e-mail notifications when you get a PM? This feature was working properly when I launched the test board, but at some point it stopped working. For a while, I'd often receive multiple notifications when I got a PM - including some for messages I received many weeks beforehand. Now I'm not getting e-mails at all.

We're currently set to use PHP mail. I tested PHP mail functionality, and that part is working properly; I get a test e-mail when I run the e-mail test that MyBB recommends. I can also get e-mail notifications on the old forums, so it's a MyBB issue rather than a server issue.

I might need to talk to MyBB support about this, but I'd like to gather some information from other MFGGers to make sure I'm not the only one having this problem.

Bumping this because this is an important bit of MyBB functionality that still isn't working right.

I never received e-mails from getting PMs because I have disabled an option for that. Did you know that there's an option for getting e-mails for receiving PMs (it's under Edit Options, under Your Profile in the User CP)? If you had that enabled and it's still not working, then it sounds like something really is going wrong. I did enable the option, so you could maybe send me a test PM just to see if it's just you or not.

@Q-Nova That was a good thing to check - I went in to the User Control Panel and confirmed that I'm set to receive PM notifications. I also looked in the database to verify that the appropriate field was set to 1 for my account.

Apparently the problem is the "task_image" template link had somehow been removed from the footer template (possibly during the April MyBB update), which prevented MyBB's scheduled tasks from running. By re-adding it, we can now receive e-mail notifications of PMs. Fixing this e-mail problem may fix various other issues, including member bans not expiring when they're supposed to.

This also means that if you have e-mail notifications enabled, you're about to receive a deluge of old PM notifications. I apologize for any inconvenience.

@Q-Nova I'm not sure if e-mail notifications are 100% fixed - I'm still seeing an issue where I get PM notifications for messages I received months ago. I was having this problem even before e-mail notifications stopped working altogether. However, that's a separate issue with a separate fix.

This particular fix also solved several problems caused by MyBB scheduled tasks not running.
